I think it is so silly the HMRC are being stroppy with you when you ARE paying! I am sure there would have been some who would just go bankrupt or leave the country rather than pay. Well done on the continued payments, I hope that your OH can get a job quickly. That will take the pressure off a bit I hope? chev

Oh help, I hope that you are able to cope with it ok. Hope your OH has been able to get a job. Can't believe that they are sending someone out to you when you paid so much off last year.

He's just gone. What a lovely man. Really.

I had received a letter, contacted them to say i'm still paying and can the arrangement continue. They said it was at a local level and they would get back to us.

They didn't. They passed the debt onto the Enforcement Office WITHIN the 7 day notice period. They are not supposed to do that. We had called within the time but as they had passed it on they could/would not speak to us.

This guy was great - apologised and set up a further arrangement. He said that we had done what was asked of us and there is a major issue with bulk processing of Notice letters. They send them out then refer them onto debt enforcement at the same time rather than awaiting the 7 day notice period to pass.

There are times when it is just better to speak to a live person in room and not on the phone.

I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

And ps I paid them another £2k last week making it £4k this month and £9970 this year.

I'm going to have a cup of tea and get off to work.

    (breathes a sigh of relief)

Thanks Chev, your support is invaluable to me, really, and Hypno and .....well all of you xxx

And thank goodness that there are some reasonable enforcement officers about too - you read of such terror stories of thugs and persistant jobsworths who cannot/will not see beyond the end of their noses. So it is a joy to see that actually some of them can use common sense and make things work in a way that suits everyone.

As you say, a weight has been lifted - long may it stay that way.
