Lemma's Secondary Tax Bill Induced LBM - OMG

Hi Lemma
At least the amount paid is increasing at a healthy rate - well done.
Have you seen the helpline on HMRC's website here:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/pbr2008/business-payment.htm
Might be of use to you. Worried they might be adding on interest and surcharges, but it looks like if you get an agreement set up under this new initiative they will actually stop surcharges! Could be worth a try?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something"0 -

Thanks for this I have written to them but did not think about this. I shall contact them and see what they can do.
I have made another payment to them. £100 today.
That should take my total to
£2805 so far since Jan 26th.2013 TARGET £30k

If it were just one year then i would be saying to myself "blimey how much and where the heck did it all go?"
Its made up of arrears going back to 2004 that my original accountants did not assess properly, a balancing payment for 2006/07 and January's payment on account this year.
I am lucky that I do have a relatively good income...when it comes in. But cash flow is a major issue which is why I am behind and having to pay it back this way. In order to pay it all off this year I am looking at about 1/2 to 2/3rds of my income going to them.
I will take the pain just to get rid of it and never be in this position again. I also want to get ahead for next year so I will never find myself in this position again.:rolleyes:2013 TARGET £30k

I have still not heard back from them about my offer.
I'm going to carry on doing this until I hear otherwise.
I feel truly awful today but my payments will not wait for me to feel 100%.
So another £100 to them has just gone out of my account. It feels quite satisfying watching the numbers add up. I don't know why I did not get a proper grip on this years ago. I suppose it was hitting 40 that did it and thinking that I was wishing my life away and had knack all to show for it!!!

Please don't let it get you down. I think that the fact that HMRC are even acknowledging that people are finding it tough to pay their tax bills is a sign of the current times. You are so obviously not alone.
Have you considered making a claim against your original accountants for negligence?"I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something"0 -

I have thought about it but professional negligence is so difficult to prove, sadly i know cos I work in the legal profession. I am chalking it down to experience. Big city firms cost you a lot of money and save you nowt. My new accountant is a one man band and is head and shoulders above my old ones.
Well, back to the task at hand.....Yes, another £100 off.
That should make £3005 so far.
I'm not paying any more until next week now.
Have a good weekend folks and thank you all so much for your support x:A2013 TARGET £30k

Over £3000 now - you are certainly showing that you are making an effort, and that will surely go in your favour!

I am starting to feel a bit better now thanks. I have been quite run down for a few weeks. Luckily my dh was able to drive me to work this morning and so i slept in the car for about 1 1/2 hours. That sleep combined with my Tylex:p seems to be having the desired effect. Still look carp but i shall make a HUGE effort over the weekend to look like a human being again!:D2013 TARGET £30k
