    pros -

the extensions are ace - ie able to control itunes / media player within your browser, updated footy scores in the bottom corner, very customisable etc

    cons -

    slow startup time
tends to crash unexpectedly every so often - and I mean when you aren't doing anything special or illegal, just once in a while it will pack in.

make sure you have the latest version, but all in all it is tons more user friendly and the tabs option alone make it worth changing to it, let alone all the customizations.

    No change is necessary!

People talk about changing to Firefox as if they think they'll have purge IE and reintstall their entire system!!

It's just a program like any other. Just because IE is deeply into your system doesn't mean that Firefox will be. :)

Just download it and give it a whirl. You can keep IE as your default browser and use Firefox as and when you like - but I'm sure you'll want Firefox as your default soon :)

Here's a flash showing firefox being installed:

You can see it's not painful :)

Just to be aware that the more extensions you have running, then the slower the startup time will be. Also the unexpected crashes that you are experiencing may be down to compatability issues with one or more of the extensions.

    Just a thought ;)
  • I think I kept IE as default for all of a couple of hours after downloading Firefox and only ever use IE when I really have to. icon12.gif

Yes, it is slightly slower to load first thing but its a very small "con" icon7.gif

Aaaaaaaagh that really hurt.... :rotfl:
  • You can get an app called FireTune from HERE which can help make FireFox work a bit quicker depending on your computer/internet speed etc :)

You can't really compare Firefox to other browsers because of the extension system.

I can understand why people try Firefox and then remove it if they don't get into using extensions. Some people just want a browser.

There's always a new one to try out. The latest one I'm trying is Customize Google Have a look at the video on that site (with the cool music :D )

Yeah, that's what I don't like about Firefox (apart from I can never get the extensions to work). I don't want to go hunting for useful accessories to enhance my browsing pleasure, that's why I prefer Opera. All singing, all dancing browser ready to go off the peg... so to speak.
