John, I always use a cloth to clean my specs. It's one of those similar to those used for cleaning camera lenses.
I have used D&A for years and they've never tried to sell me anything else to clean my glasses with.MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

Hi Bunty,
Apparently the cleaning fluid they were advising costs £4.99. I've a good mind to go back there myself and have a chat with the manager, not because they were trying to flog an additional item, but to remonstrate over the bizarre claim that the cloth that they put in the case is not for cleaning simply to lay the blame for the scratch on my wife.
As I mentioned earlier, I normally go to Specsavers and have to say they are head and shoulders above the D&A in the customer service department - in fact Specsavers were almost too attentive. However I did have a problem with the prescription the last time and had to have a second test which showed a small but necessary alteration. Mind you, the 2nd optician didn't say anything, he felt it was merely a readjustment of the frames that was required, it was one of the people on the shop floor who pointed out the slight change, and although it was "Within legal tollerances" felt it would be prudent to have the lense changed. It certainly resolved the problem I had in the end.
Cheers

Thanks JDAdams - now have a free eye test voucher!0

Just took advantage of my free eye test at D&A and walked away with my prescription without any problems. Ordered my glasses online at https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk. The site is really good allowing the virtual fitting of all of their glasses and then allowing the try out of your selected frame at home for £2.50.0

http://www.danda.co.uk/opticians/promotions/voucher.asp?campaign=20Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
