Can someone explain the free contact lenses offer to me please. How could they be free if you pay £ 14.99 a month and is there a minimum contract or something?? I couldn't find the details on the site. Thanks.stretcherman wrote:What is?

Hi, I'm totally new to the chat forum so hope this works.
Just wanted to say I just phoned Specsavers (already with them) and asked if I could cancel my eye test appointment as I had just made a free one with D&A. They told me as an existing customer, I am entitled to a free eye test anyway and was I not told about this when I made the appointment. I said no, I wasn't.
Hadn't the time to make a fuss but I did ask when I made the appointment if I could have it free because I was pregnant and have Prescription Exemption certificate (long shot but worth a try!) The receptionist didn't even use that chance to tell me about the free eyetest for exisitng customers so I reckon Specsavers will only open up about this policy if they think you are going to go elsewhere.
Worth remembering.

if you go and have this eye test, make sue you ask to get a presciption report. They can not refuse you as i beleive this is against the Law
Once you have this report, you can buy prescription glases over the internet. I did this last time one this offer was on the Freebie List
you can easily buy a decent pair of rimless glasses for around £50 or a basic pair for around £15 which do look smart
The website I used was https://www.glassesdirect.co.uk. in fact i have used them twice and the standard of glasses is excellent i had got them delivered with 2-3 weeks.
Obviously this is a great cost saving alternative as the big chains just rip you off
Hope this Helps

I've said it before and will do so again. Forget finding free eye test offers etc, if you work with computer screen for more than 4 hours per day then legally your employer MUST pay the cost of an eye test for you. So go to the opticians of your choice and get a free eye test!
Note: Some employers may stipulate terms such as a particular chain etc so check with your HR dept or argue your case. None the less I've not paid for an eye test in over 8 years :-)0 -
I buy my contact lenses online as well as I found them a lot cheaper than buying through an optician. If anyone is interested, try https://www.postoptics.co.uk or for even cheaper rates try https://www.lensway.com. Cleaning solution i also a lot chaeaper than buying from Boots etc.0

In the current Spring issue of Marks and Spencers magazine (available instore and free if you are and &More cardholder, £1.20 otherwise) there is a voucher for a free eyesight test at Dollond & Aitchison and a second voucher with 20% off a complete pair of glasses. You can however just use the free sight test voucher and aren't under any obligation to buy glasses from them. Vouchers valid till 7.7.06. :rotfl:0

This webpage is still up and I've just downloaded a free eyetest voucher from it (valid till 30-3-06)
