i wouldnt go with anything that claimed to be as good

i remember that Good Housekeeping did a survey on straightners recently and they rated everything above GHDs, mainly due to the price. But i dont think you can really go against what seems to be general consensus. If everyone who has bought ghds has never found the need to buy anything ever again, then that must speak volumes. People just think that because they paid half the price for something, as long as it does a better job than their old straightners then they are happy. Give them a pair of ghds, and they usually change their mind.

i own ghds, but even im still impressed with how straight the hairdresser can get my hair using their ghds, compared to my diy efforts at home. So perhaps skill comes into it a bit, but id rather pay for a pair of ghds and know that they work well, than risk spending half the price on something that does an ok job, but still wonder whether if i had bought the ghds, i could have even better results

I've got some ordinary ceramic hair straighteners ( TJ Hughes best). My hair dresser tells me that these will damage my hair, and I should use GHD ones ( of which she happens to sell !!!!) I have to admit that my hair looks better when I have been to the hairdressers, but then it it always does, even if she doesn't use the straighteners. Before I spend a LOT of money, does anyone have any opinion about these? Are GHD better. Is it worth the extra money? I do like my hair to look nice, so I would rather cut back on something else if I thought I wasn't being led up the garden path.

GHDs are fantastic, I absolutely love mine. They are lightweight and it takes me about 5 minutes to straighten my hair in the mornings :)

It is the Holy Grail of hair straightners. I have been using mine for about 4 months now and havnt noticed any damage to my hair.
Dont buy them at the hairdressers, when I enquired, I think they retail for about £110 pounds...

I bought mine online at this website : http://www.salonprofessional.co.uk/
It was a genuine GHD, got it verified with GHD :D

I use a set of Prolectrix ceramic straighteners (I have never heard of them either). They cost me about £10 in a shop a year ago (its closed down now) and I love them. Straighten my hair really quick and they have 4 heat settings. I wouldnt dream of paying £100 for GHD - I dont think they could do mine any better. Its not just me people at work often tell me how 'lovely' my hair is. I have it coloured too and its not damaged. Was at hairdresser yesterday who told me its in lovely condition. I use them about 3-4 times per week.

as you will all know, my quest for cheapy ghds has been never ending-until today! international stock sell them brand new for £52.99, i bought a pair, and yes they are far better than anything off the high street! they are also doing the minis for £50, this is the cheapest i have seen and i got mine straight away...if this helps, gizza thanks  ;) (also as i said in an old thread they sell the standard size ghds for £79 with bag, mat and ghd products, but i just got the straighteners on their own as it was far cheaper)

oh and whats the best cheap alternative ghd iron oil... :rotfl:
