pref opinions from people who also own ghds seeing as they are meant to be the best , or people who have had at least 4 different pairs, there are lots of threads just on ghd or 'i got this cheapo one and its good' but it would be good to have a thread where people could compare the best ones and see how many come up more than once..for instance no snagging on hair, suitable for really frizzy hair, ones that you can use without straightening with dryer first and how long the straightness lasts, remember, only people who have had a few pairs or it will just be like the other threads..thanks, really keen to hear the results! :p

for me, i would def say ghd are the best

but ive had mine for about 2yrs now, so havent tried any of the newer ones on the market, as i havent felt the need.

ive tried GHS, remington and babyliss, straighteners. all supposed to be ceramic. The babyliss and remington ones, both snagged my hair, the ghs ones do the job, but it just doesnt last as long as when i use GHD, and can go a bit flyaway around the hairline

with GHD, i can straighten my hair in the morning, go to bed, and when i wake up the next day, its still dead straight, and i can just give it a brush through and go, if need be (but i like to wash it daily). i also dont find my hair goes static when using Ghds, as it can tend to with cheaper versions, and i straighten daily. yes i know i shouldnt, but once you get used to straight hair, blowdrying just doesnt give the same effect.

GHD are the best undoubtedly, have tried several other brands - Nicky Clarke, Babyliss and Remington and there is just no comparison.

Me and miss troo tested a few (borrowed from friends), she preferred Remington (they heat to 200 degrees), I preferred Vidal Sassoon (they heat to 210 degrees). GHD did the job just as well but seemed to take longer, I had to go over my hair a couple of times with them. I use the VS ones without blow drying my hair, I usually wash it at night then straighten in the morning, it takes about 10 mins.

I got my daughters Wahl ones which came with a mag subscription before Christmas. They love them.

There is a website called half price perfumes that sells them for £19.99 instead of over £40!

My daughter has GHDs and we love them to bits. I have really frizzy curly hair and they make it as straight as when my hairdresser does it.

I have tried others, such as the Braun ones and I dont find that they are even in the same league.

When I have my hair straightened by my hairdressers, who uses ceramic straighteners that she got from the wholesales NOT ghds, I find that she has to go over each section a number of times, whereas GHDs need only the once. Bev (hairdresser) says that she thinks that GHDs actually are better.

I had my hair done at one of the makeover places once (NewID) and the hairdresser there was using them to makeover people by the dozen, straight to curly, curly to corkscrews, all manner of styles in a few minutes per head. He said that he wouldnt want to be a hairdresser without GHDs.

I know what everyone says about GHD's - but these claim to be the same thing at less than half the price. Plenty of decent reviews around saying that as a cheaper version thean GHD they're excellent - just wondered if anyone on here had tried them?
