  • Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that i purchased a couple of John Freida hair serums(not a mini) to get rid of some of my endless supply of hair care / wrinklies. They are priced at £1.95, so nothing to pay. Yipee.

Also managed to buy Soap & Glory mini's with MOC in two seperate boots today no questions asked, just had to overide till.

Had bit of luck with anti-fatigue sets too. 6 sets purchased! sold three on the bus on way home. (Result) One even had a clearence label on for £7 odd. I asked that the lovely SA to just scan the original barcode.

    Thats my dad's and brother's birthday's sorted.

    Thanks to everyone. x

Thank The Lord we live in a land where we can have Free Speech! Of course there is another side to the coin, but I don't see what we're doing as being on a par with, for example, bankers who took an enormous risk with zillions of pounds etc.

And I certainly don't feel that the use of even an ACM voucher, should be met with disdain, and even rudeness, which loads of posters have found. Do you?

And with my bunions, and non existent 60s eyebrows, I am far from Godly!!! Just an OAP who is trying to get the best value for money that she can, and s-t-r-e-t-c-h her pension, like elastic. ;)

You're absolutely right that this business with s&g vouchers is nothing like what happened to Woolworths. In fact, it isn't hurting Boots at all -- it's hurting Soap & Glory. They put out these vouchers for 2 quid off the skincare range, intending the vouchers to be used for items in a certain price range (as noted by the exclusion of facial wipes) and to get people to try its new skincare products. This isn't taking advantage of boots and its screwy system and tills -- it's putting one over on Soap and Glory. Presumably Boots will just send in the s&g vouchers for reimbursement from s&g.

I like s&g and wish the company well, and would like them to add more products and do more coupons. Do what you will, but keep in mind you're probably sticking it to s&g with this glitch and not Boots. If you're cool with that, that's fine. I just point this out because I think people forget (or never realized in the first place) that vouchers that aren't issued by boots are repaid by the manufacturer. I guess it's the fun, light-hearted tone of the products (and even their emails!) that make me feel a bit fond of this company. I thought others on here might feel the same, but no one else has spoken up.

Again, we all love using coupons, so I'm not trying to bash anyone for using the s&g coupons. I just didn't want it totally lost in the shuffle of bargain hunting that if you love s&g, you're making them take a hit when you use the vouchers on a mini. That's all, now go forth and Boots as you will. :)

You're right, it is S&G that are being hit in the pocket by this. Whether the £2 voucher is used against a mini or a full-sized product of whichever S&G range, it's still £2, so I don't think that in itself is a problem. What is really going to hit S&G is the fact that people are not only using the one voucher emailed to them, but are printing loads of them and using them again and again. Also people who haven't even signed up for their mailings are getting them from others and printing off and using lots of them. Unfortunately for S&G, other than issuing individually numbered vouchers, there is no way of controlling how many of them people print off and use. Maybe they'll learn from this and start to specify exactly what is included and what isn't.

I received my voucher by email directly from S&G, but have yet to decide what I am going to use it against.

hi, can I ask lots of you have metioned points from mailing, how did you all get them, i have never get any, do i need to register? I have boots card and shop boots online as well.
    Nice weekend, all girls:heart2: :smileyhea

When you applied for your advantage card, you ticked boxes, one of those was for the mailing, I know cos my mum did the same. I told her (actually bragged to her) about my boots mailings and she said she never got any. There are two ways to get the mailings once you have omitted yourself from them (via ticking "do not contact me/send my details to reputable companies boxes)

One is to get a new advantage cadd, refill in the form- boxes not ticked against contacting you! and then transfer all your advantage card points to your new card.

The other way is to call up boots and ask them to allow them to send you info if you don't mind them marketing to you (via the points they send).

Marketing isn't always a bad thing and sometimes you can cut your nose to spite your face like in this example.

Um, actually, probably because they recognise that what is happening is against the spirit of what Soap and Glory are offering, and that whilst some customers think they are very clever and entitled to take advantage of high street stores, eventually some one has to pay (see Woolworths, for example), and in the long run they can see that the organisation they work for, have loyalty towards and keeps a roof over their heads, is being taken advantage of.

I know this will be an unpopular view, and that SS is revered as a god-like figure here, and that I am probably making myself 'persona non gratis' on this forum, but lets try to see it from the other side of the fence too.

Like everyone else here you have an opinion, and we are all entitled to voice them and thats the nice thing about this forum.:T

But I do think its wrong to specifically identify one person in your post when voicing your opinion. In doing that, it makes it a personal matter rather than just your opionion. There are lots of other people doing similar transaction, so it would seem to me to be unnecessary to label Sandra Scarlett in this way.

I am not speaking for Sandra, she is more than able to that herself, just doing the same as you and giving my opinion. BTW as for 'taking advantage 'of Boots, isn't that the name of their card after all?

Marketing isn't always a bad thing and sometimes you can cut your nose to spite your face like in this example.

You can update your mailing preferences yourself, by logging into your account on .com

Under "Advantage Card", there is a box which needs to be ticked - next to it, it states:

"You're safe with us. We promise we'll never share your details with anyone else. We'll send you exclusive mailings as part of our Advantage Card scheme which include money off and extra points coupons worth up to 300, plus the latest news and tailored information on products, services and offers. You could also receive exclusive invites to our customer evenings. Un-tick this box if you do not wish to receive these. "

Make sure there is a tick in the box & then submit your details at the bottom of the page.

Also, there is another box for email subscriptions, on the "About Me" page. This one states:

Un-tick this box if you do not wish to receive details of products, special offers and services that may interest you from Boots UK and the companies that own it. Our privacy policy and site legal terms tell you more. Boots UK is the company that operates boots.com and is wholly owned by the Alliance Boots Ltd.

So again, make sure there is a tick in the box & submit the page.

    HTH,

Poor you I hope someone with younger children is awake to advise you. I am 30 years out of date with teething products, but an old tried and tested remedy is a stainless steel spoon, for baby to bite on. Its also cold and soothing. I dont know the age of your baby but would only works if they are able to hold it themselves. Otherwise you will go off your head holding it yourself. ;);) Good luck xx
