If they cannot honour the 75% sale, then we would not be losing out in the future, because the majority of people didn't even get to order anything at that price. It would be less annoying for them not to start a 75% off sale than offer it & not honour it!
Just to answer some of the points raised:What's wrong with selling something at its original price. Just because its been on 3 for 2 and 50% off doesn't mean that it always has to be sold at a discount? Infact, I'm fairly certain it can only be sold at a discount if its been sold at full price at some point.
When it was on a 342, it could have been bought as a single item, so that would be classed as selling it at full price, BUT, as has been stated previously on other posts, Boots would price it so that by selling it as a 342 (which, as you state, is effectively 33% off) they would not make a loss, as the majority of the people purchasing will only purchase it as part of the deal. Therefore, selling it at 100% now, will actually be the price + 33% extra profit. If people are having orders cancelled for items that are showing instock at full price, then yes there is something wrong, but its not illegal for them to do it.
May not be illegal, but Trading Standards wouldn't be interested, if it was an accepted practice. And its not very "customer friendly", is it? They have not explained why they are cancelling orders when items are remaining in stock at full price & not offered any compensation. They have "offered" an item for a specific price, then just decided to not honour their offer. It might not be illegal but its not fair to those who put their orders through. The price was not a "glitch" that someone has taken advantage of, it was a correctly advertised price. The fact that its been commonly known that Boots go 50% > 75% > 90% means people are waiting for the larger discount sales, and then moaning that things go out of stock immediately. The vast majority of items in the 75% off sale have been freely available for the duration of the 3 for 2 (Effectively 33% off) and 50% off sales. If you wanted things that badly then they should have been purchased then.
Its nothing to do with moaning about them going out of stock when the sales starts, its about not honouring an offer price which they have clearly advertised at a reduction (which, if they weren't happy at selling at that price, they wouldn't have reduced it to that level in the first place - no-one forced them to put the sale on!) Yes, items were freely available at higher prices, but I, for one, couldn't afford the higher price. If you can afford to buy them at 100%, thats great. For me, the credit crunch is biting hard. I've sat back & waited to see what went in the sale, knowing that they may not have put certain items in, but when they do, revoking the sale price for the 100% price for no other reason than they have an inefficient system makes no sense. We're losing out on a price they were happy to sell at, because their systems can't cope. Why not offer alternatives, like telephone ordering. It would be dependant on who got through, obviously, but they could limit the ordering (so the buyers who wanted 20-30 of one item couldn't buy them in that quantity) but it would be a fairer option. Or return the discount level to 50%...If Boots aren't in any kind of cashflow difficulties, then it makes sense for them to hold onto any non-date limited products and offer them at other times of the year. Why sell something at 25% of its value just for the sake of it?
Its not "for the sake of it" - see above.
Right, I'm off to work now! Have a good day everyone!

I had one of these last time. Think it was the 350 points when you spend £45 or something. SA scanned it no problems and it said INCENTIVE BOND £20. I don't know why it happened as I don't have any kids, but what the hell. All good.0 -
I went to the large Boots in Brighton yesterday and managed to use my blinkie on the gorgeous purple R&M make up bag I've been lusting after. :j Just wanted to let peeps know that there are no reduced Herbal Essences bottles there though.Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0

Lauzy on the previous page said that SA has to choose on the till between coupon or incentive bond, and you strike lucky if they choose the wrong one. Not sure if it would give that option on SS tills.
Glad that some others have the same coupon and fingers crossed that you get £20 off as well (but only if you are going to spend £20+ anyway otherwise its a bit of a gamble by the sounds of it).0 -
