Just because a product says 'best before today', doesnt mean its stale. However, in some cases, nor does it mean it's still edible! I have noticed Somerfield is horrendous for this- there are often bakery goods covered in green spores! Yuk! And this is sometimes 2 days before the supposed bb date- lord only knows what they do to them, or indeed, why they dont check their shelves more often! I wont buy anything in there now exept tins etc, or emergencies- it really has put me off for life!0 -
i cant eat really cheap bread either have tried tesco value but like others said tastes awful and goes stale quick. im now thinking of getting bread maker had a quick look in argos and price varies, can someone tell me if the cheaper ones are just as good as the dearer?
thankshave now given up smoking since feb 13th 2014 loving the money I'm saving0 -
This is the only loaf for me - and I'll pay any 'sensible' amount for it whilst I'm shopping in Asda for my weekly shop.
Granted, I'll cut back on branded items such as tinned tomatoes and look for any Roll Backs to try and save a few quid BUT when it comes to the loaf, only the Seeded Batch will do.0 -

And no yukky preservatives either!
i've just worked it out at the same prices
i only ever have home made bread. the taste and cost is much better than shop bought bread! nothing beats the smell of fresh baked bread. or warm bread straight from the oven, with a bit of proper butter on. yum yum :T
*runs off to bake bread - yummy*0 -

Whats the cheapest NICE bread then?
My fav (supermaket bread) is Warburtons. The plain white med sliced one.
Mostly I buy a freshly sliced organic loaf from the bakers for £1.50.0 -
