Nobody's mentioned lidl!
35p most of the time on the odd occasion it goes up to 45 for a week a little odd.
Tastes as you would expect but i'm still eating it.0 -
Somefield own brand white and wholemeal for 50p a loaf0

I always find Lidl bread goes stale really fast, if its not already hard instore ! I dont think bread is something you can scrimp on to be honest. Some things are just as good for the valeue brand as for the dearer brands but bread definitely isnt one of them.0

I haven't priced up making my own (in a breadmaker) but I'm sure it's cheaper than some of these value brands, & possibly nicer!
Do the math, you'd be surprised how expensive that home made bread is! I used to make my own, but it was just too damned expensive when you can get a loaf in Lidl for 35p, and it is perfectly good bread (above poster may want to re-evaluate how they store it)We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -

Someone on OS did calculate it, and it came to something like 25p for white, and 35p for wholemeal using a breadmaker!
And no yukky preservatives either!0 -

Lidls bread is awful and I store it in a breadbin the same way as I store all the other bread I buy, im not a snob when it comes to most things but bread is definitely one thing I have to buy dear on.
Oh and you cant beat the smell of fresh baking bread wafting through the house. It does work our cheaper and like the poster above said, no nasty preservatives. I know which I would rather me and my kids eat.0 -
39p from my local Aldis...
Recently I've been getting bread from Watirose when they reduce them, as they take them off the shelf 2 days before the best before date, put it in the fridge and they last around a week!
So around 25p for a loaf then. Look for reduced bread... you can always stick it in the freezer and defrost it in the toaster/microwave...0 -
Eh????????
i thought that, but what he they it will be on offer for 49p for a period of time, then it will be on offer for 2 for £1.20 for a period of time, not much of a offer i know, i can remember when it used to be permantly 2 for 99p that was not that far back, DaveTake every day as it comes!!0 -
