yep.go to most tesco stores after 7pm when they have reduced all the bread for that day.i never pay more than 50p for loaves that normally cost between £1.30 and £1.50.i usually get about half a dozen once a week then freeze them.
  • Netto is only 40p or something I think, also the danish loafs in tesco were only 46p.

  • Tesco Value Thick Sliced 40p

I have paid 45p the last couple of weeks in Aldi

Asda usually 10p - 20p a loaf in the end of day reductions [ branded names ]
  • I find it hard to get the loaf I want reduced due to most stores opening late, or 24 hours, so the reductions are staggerred throughout the afternoon/ evening.

However, on Sundays I have noticed reductions get done about 3pm. On several occassions I have popped into Morrisons at the last minute and loafs and rolls etc were 20p by the front door. By the time I got round to the checkout to pay, a lad was wheeling them through the checkouts asking everyone queueing if they wanted them for 5p each!

So I now try and get down there at 3:45 on a Sunday if I have nothing better to do, and will buy a couple of weeks worth of bakery goods to put in the freezer for under a pound!
  • Cheapest loaf of bread I got today was a 800g Hovis for 25p - made in my breadmaker from the Hovis Bread Mixes I bulk-bought from Asda a while ago. Delish as well...

Morrison's do a Stevensons loaf (quite nice bread) white or wholemeal almost always on one of these two offers at 49p a loaf or 1.20 for 2

Great info, thanks. I'm sick of paying a fortune for bread.
