Erm, surely the idea with bread is to grabbit as FRESH as possible, not as cheap as possible. That way it won't go stale as old boots by the next morning, you won't throw half of it away, and you'll end up saving money!Wins - 2004: Nothing, 2005: Zip, 2006: Nil, 2007: Zero, 2008: Naught, 2009: You get the picture0

I buy my bread from Farmfoods. 2 Kingsmill loaves for £1.50. Brown, white or 50/50 loaves are included. The same loaves are for sale in asda for about £1.30 each, and Farmfoods bread is always much fresher. I never buy bread from anywhere else now.0

Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Be careful my dad bought a cheap loaf from Somerfield and it had hydrogenated fat. Sometimes it is best to spend just a little bit more.0

Cheap bread isn't very nice, really. I bought the cheapy white bread from COOP and after a couple of days in the bread barrell, it smelled like ether! The preservatives aren't very good for you (again, nor is the hydrogenated fat) - not to mention the pesticide residues:

You could try making your own? Bound to be nicer!0 -

think morrisons value bread about 37P???
i stick to 'orange bread'0 -
the trouble with the cheap bread is that it is like chewing cottonwool,0

I haven't priced up making my own (in a breadmaker) but I'm sure it's cheaper than some of these value brands, & possibly nicer!0
