I guess times have changed, I used to have a gas copper to boil the nappies in. People think many things are necessities now that aren't really. Mobile phones, internet, loads of clothes, games consoles. Some things like washing machines make life easier but really aren't essential .
I'm just waiting for the first post suggesting that plasma TVs should be provided as the children will think they are in poverty if they don't have one.0 -
Ask your local tesco/asda to put a card up. Most of them have a board where people can sell or request things. If you ask a local charity shop to ring you if someone wants to donate a washing machine. Most charity shops dont accept electrical goods but could pass on your number .
The church also helps with furniture and electrical goods. Its worth asking.
How about your freinds could they ask around family to see if someone has one..
Gumtree if you type in your area and then gumtree you can advertise for free and there are also a freebies section. We got a oven from someone who was giving it away on gumtree.
If I think of anymore Ill pm you.0 -

Why?
Oh god forbid anyone mention hand washing!! :rotfl:Having a coke with youis even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irun, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona0 -
Thank goodness it's calmed down a bit.
The way I see it if someone asks for help, I do my best to help them. There may be a day when I require it!!:j:wave:0 -

Surely suggesting politely to someone that they could use a launderette or wash things by hand is quite helpful. Someone who's always had their own washing machine might not think of these alternatives.0
