I think the law was recently changed that ISP now have to keep information on tracing users much longer this is mainly for the law enforcement purposes, rather than for the occasional idiot spammer.

It would be easier if they used a static Ip than a dynamic one, but they would be almost impossible to trace if they were using a proxy.

vBulletin does also try to obtain a user's IP Address if they are browsing from behind a proxy but it doesn't always work because the proxy doesn't always set certain headers.

I don't understand why he's doing it? I clicked on one of the links yesterday before I realised. Just looked like a worthless, pointless site. Does it contain viruses? What am I missing? Do I have to do a virus check on my computer?

He posted two links yesterday under his new name Lightning302. One was a porno site the other was a redirected url which is still in his sig.

I have reported this idiot to the redirected site and the gaming site in which the url is pointed to and still shows up but doesn't appear to work properly.

This idiot has a reputation of doing this under his old name Kevin8008 think that's correct just do a search on goggle

This person is sick and as I said before they will be back until someone does something and get this idiot thrown off

He has still one post left open which ironically is okay, accept his signature is clickable.

Explaining how it works might just give others ideas.

One was just an auto-click thingy.
There's an online multi-player game where someone clicks your a link to increase your points. He'd set up an auto-clicking thingy so that when you viewed the page, it auto-clicked some links and he get more points. (I assume it uses IP addresses to stop cheating so he needed other people to click the links)

When I followed one of the links to it's source I found it saying 'you have clicked to buy drugs from..."

I've reported to Abuse and it looks like kevin8008 has now been banned - lets hope the new username is banned quickly and the user is thrown off.

If only that was so simply. He come back on again under a different name. Either there Ip wants blocked and there could be problems with blocking other users assuming they are using a static IP or report them to there ISp which is better and stops then doing it to anyone else. He has a reputation of being an idot else where.
