Perhaps the mods would like to post (probably hotmail/yahoo/verizon) IDs and IP addresses.

IP address would be useful - even if dynamic it'll point to his/her ISP.

Not sure you would be able to find out the offending persons MAC address. You would only be able to find that out if your PC was on the same Physical lan or vlan as the other PC.
Over the internet connection the only thing the site mods could prove is the users IP address and from that the users ISP. Perhaps the ISP would be able to provide details of their subscriber but I doubt they would unless legally challenged.

Sorry about the spammer. Im afraid there's little i can do about it - i dont know how to use the backend stuff to ban someone. It's the job of the abuse team. Please always report straight to [Removed by Forum Team]

There are three members and we have pretty good coverage. The stated aim is about 48 hours, yet actually normally they deal with things within an hour - however at weekends and during the night obviously things are slower, which is what happened this time. We dont have 24 hours abuse support, but do our best, please bare with us. When determined spammers come on board, it can be very annoying, but there's no way other than manually to stop it - if they're spamming something new

As the site gets more popular which is a good thing unfortunately spammers will exploit this even more.

This particularly users has gone out of there way to cause trouble by consistently being a repeat offender not just this weekend but I recall them coming back a few weeks back.

If admin can track there IP address perhaps the best way forward would be to contact there ISP giving IP address and times so that they can trace who the offender was.

If not action is taken unfortunately I suspect they will return, they have already used three user names, two this weekend.

I may be wrong but I think the user has some malice against the site because the link they gave didn't work properly, they did at the start but I reported them to the site.

Its a great shame and although the web mirrors the real world, that one or two idiots have to spoil what is after all a good and vibrant community.

If admin read this, is it possible to put the the url of the shorten link that they used in the filter, so that the link would appear dead, at least then they would not gain by entering a dead link?

Vbulletin is pretty good at tracking this stuff. It will allow you to search by IP address and see all the users that have ever logged in from that address. Generally I've found you can use this feature to identify people.

Dynamic IP's fog this a little but most ISPs seem to have reasonably long lease times.
