I don't know if this has been reported elsewhere but Nationwide flexaccounts with the 'new' sort codes 07-02-46 can also send faster payments (perhaps they always were able to?) up to at least £0.01! So I don't know what limits (if any) Nationwide imposes on payments...

Further tests revealed it is possible to make payments of up to £10 via FPS
.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam

Just a quick update - Faster Payments will be available in RBS branches from 23/03/09 :T
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

Just trying to send a FPS from Halifax and it looks like they should go back in the failure category.

The last FPS sent from my account was the middle of Jan.

I tried this evening to send an FPS of over £1000 and it wouldn't go. I then tried £999, no luck, so I tried £749, £499 and £249 and all no go.

    Cheers, Des.

The idiot category is more appropriate for them.

I rarely send money other than by DD / SO (internal). But had to do 2 x external payments tonight. First (£127.33) I selected today's date .... and it will go via BACS 26/3! Second (£127.34) went FP and I had a confirmatory receipt Email 10 mins later. Both recipient accounts are FP enabled.

Halifax also now have a very irate Email. Which points to the FP info on their website .. which suggests they are running FP 'as designed' since last Autumn ..... and asks why they are actually running it with covert T&Cs.

Halifax do seem to be having a problem with FP tonight. For the first time since FP started with Halifax, I've been told that my payment will go by BACS. I cancelled it and will try again in the morning, as they are normally very good, so I expect it's just a short-term glitch.

    Too charitable. ;)

They've been all over the place since inception. And the information on their website doesn't hold any hands with reality.

Just my experience ... I have NEVER had a single problem transferring to/from Natwest, by single payment or standing order, since they started the system ... until tonight, that is.

I agree that their web site could give a little more info on the subject.

Strangely the failure I had was to Nat West. But I tried a couple of £800 transfers just over a week ago (same accounts as last night) and both went BACS.

.... it's the fact it's wholly inaccurate that gets me. They are clearly not operating even close to FP design limits. So what is the harm in identifying that.

Yeah it is a joke - even on the phone you can't always get FP as they have limits to how many they can send per day or something....
