I meant to post here but forgot. We received an order confirmation through the post the other week with delivery details, and stating the amount we had paid etc so I feel a lot better about the whole thing now.

has anyone had their wedding yet with any of the company's mentioned in the above thread? Whose wedding is first? Cheeky I know but I'm after some first hand experience of some of the cheaper companies before I booked chair covers - I'm on the west/north/south yorks borders0

Hello, I run a genuine chair cover hire company (not naming it as I'm not posting this to advertise, but to offer advice). I've read this thread and have no idea how a company can offer chair covers for 50p pr £1 each. £1 per cover would not even cover the costs of ironing and laundering the covers for us (staff costs, electricity (for the iron, washing machine and tumble dryer), water, washing powder, stain treatments etc), so I have no idea how this company can do so and stay in business. I'm not saying that it's not a genuine company, just that from someone who runs a successful chair cover company, her figures just don't add up for me. There is actaully a lot of work involved in providing quality chair covers and sashes. We pride ourselves on our quality and service and keep our prices as low as possible to enable us to cover costs and make a modest profit (we are a business after all). We would go under in 6 months if we only charged £1 per cover. For example, a DIY option of 100 covers and sashes from them would cost £100. For us an order of this size would involve 8 hours of ironing, 4 hours of sorting, checking, washing, drying and 1 hour of admin work involved (excluding quotes, bookings, confirmations, receipts, updates etc). That's 13 hours of staff to pay - even at minimum wage that's £74.49 to pay out before adding on electricity, water, washing powder, stain removers, rent and rates for premises. The sums just don't add up for me, but maybe this lady has figured out a way of doing it without the costs that we have. With so many companies closing at the moment, I would be very wary of booking only to discover that the company has gone bust in the 6 months before your wedding. I'm also wary of companies who demand full payment up front - we require full payment 1 month before the wedding date. I hope that this helps some people who are still pondering on whether or not to book.
I totally agree with the above. We are also a Wedding Service company that supplies alll aspects for your day. I am appalled at some of the hhorror stories by these £1 Chair Cover Compnaies. I have looked at the sites mentioned & they are using images from other sites. They don't have any pics of previous work & also they send them mail order in a box , which wuill be creased and look awful on the day. We set up , steam the covers on site and also collect the covers the following day.
Be careful everyone, if it looks too cheap it probably is.0 -
if people have Makro mail - they are advertising chair covers, runners, tablecloths etc etcGot married on 1st August

Hi all,
I have gone through similar worries with £1 chair cover companies and after long consideration I decided not to go with them. Instead I have gone to the wedding fayres in my area and spoken to my hotel.
I/they came up with a list of 5 local companies
Totty Maudes
Big Balloon Company
Flower Heaven Weddings
Shapphires Decor
Chair Flair
Which I have now decided to go with one of them, its costing £2.75 a cover, but the setup and collection is free. They are Flower Heaven Weddings
(www.flowerheavenweddings.co.uk). I could not find much about them on the forums, but after speaking to the hotel and the lady who runs the company I feel quite at ease. I am yet to pay my deposit, so before I do this week has anyone heard or dealt with them.

Afraid not - mines well after yours.
I called and spoke to the lady on Monday after my venuie raised the question of whether i'd checked the sizings. I hadn'tShe was very helpful though and offered to send a sample. I said no actually as we have a choice of cotton ones which she admitted would need ironing before being put on, or stretch ones which will fit well and also the creases will pull out so I went for those instead.
If i'm worried nearer the day, I might order a sample but for now i'm happy enough.

Hi
i totally agree that some cheaper chair cover companies are crap we checked a few out before my sisters wedding and the quality was good but service a bit dodgy.
i then looked around and also found that these higher priced compaines using the same covers and charging double or even triple the price saying " oh ,ours are better ,because we charge £4" ( even though its the same cover).
personally i think it depends on the company.
the one we used was so professional, had all their own washing and drying stuff ,card payment facilities etc, proper offices and ran the business fulltime 7 days a week. ,i could go on and on.
What i'm trying to say is some are out to make a quick buck ripping people off,but there are also pprofessional people out there like the ones we used.
So dont get ripped off by theexpensive companies as well as the cheaper ones, always do your reasearch and make up ypur own mind like we did.
Sorry for the rant but the guys like the ones did our sisters wedding were great and i dont think its fair to tar everyone with the same brush.
if anyones interested these guys have done some of the most prestigoius venues up and down the counrty and i checked it all out ,will defo use again and would recommend, from what they told me they were the original £1 a chair cover and then everyone else followed.
if you wanna have a look its low cost chair covers based in brum.

Were using this company but please dont take that as a customer reccomendation as the only experience i have of them is doing the initial booking, which was quick and professional
We used these guys, I can't recommend them enough, they were absolutely fantastic. One day I will be out of my student debt, one day... :beer:0
