Actually check out the You and Your Wedding forum and there s a girl there who has been to see a wedding they had set up (unannounced) and spoke to the lady and she was lovely and said she'd had a few teething problems. Oh don't know what to believe!!!!

I have e-mailed her with my concerns and hopefully she will put my mind at rest! x x

  • Well we tried calling them but there was no answer.... they said that they would arrange a refund today but nothing has gone in the bank despite transfers to/from halifax accounts being instant.

Apparently she doesn't want customers like me, and apparently I expected everything to be done in hours... Not the case at all. I had 4 days of them emailing me asking to confirm I had paid, despite telling them straight away... is it any wonder that after the 3rd/4th time of telling them I snapped? Will be glad when I get my money back so I can brush it under a carpet and de stress.

In the mean time I have about £40 to last me 2 weeks until the money goes back into the account :(

Thought I would provide an update on the situation. I e-mailed the owner telling her about the negative comments and how I am worried that the company was not genuine. I got a response back and the lady does seem really genuine - She offered for me to go and meet with her at her parents shop and told me I could ring her anytime with an concerns. She also offered to put me in touch with the wedding coordinators that she has worked with. She said that she has been having a few problems and I think these are mainly due to organisation skills and being run off her feet.

Obviously the proof is in the pudding but I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt at this stage and try and work with her. I will provide updates as and when and hopefully this company will deliver and we will be able to give some positive feedback and enable new Brides to be to get a good deal!

  • Hello, I run a genuine chair cover hire company (not naming it as I'm not posting this to advertise, but to offer advice). I've read this thread and have no idea how a company can offer chair covers for 50p pr £1 each. £1 per cover would not even cover the costs of ironing and laundering the covers for us (staff costs, electricity (for the iron, washing machine and tumble dryer), water, washing powder, stain treatments etc), so I have no idea how this company can do so and stay in business. I'm not saying that it's not a genuine company, just that from someone who runs a successful chair cover company, her figures just don't add up for me. There is actaully a lot of work involved in providing quality chair covers and sashes. We pride ourselves on our quality and service and keep our prices as low as possible to enable us to cover costs and make a modest profit (we are a business after all). We would go under in 6 months if we only charged £1 per cover. For example, a DIY option of 100 covers and sashes from them would cost £100. For us an order of this size would involve 8 hours of ironing, 4 hours of sorting, checking, washing, drying and 1 hour of admin work involved (excluding quotes, bookings, confirmations, receipts, updates etc). That's 13 hours of staff to pay - even at minimum wage that's £74.49 to pay out before adding on electricity, water, washing powder, stain removers, rent and rates for premises. The sums just don't add up for me, but maybe this lady has figured out a way of doing it without the costs that we have. With so many companies closing at the moment, I would be very wary of booking only to discover that the company has gone bust in the 6 months before your wedding. I'm also wary of companies who demand full payment up front - we require full payment 1 month before the wedding date. I hope that this helps some people who are still pondering on whether or not to book.
  • Well I still haven't received my refund. She said last Saturday that she would process it on Saturday, when it didn't turn up (same bank, should be instant) I asked her to confirm when it would be sent (this was on Tuesday) and she asked me to confirm my details AGAIN, and that it would be sent that afternoon. Still nothing.
  • Finally got the refund today after my OH called the lady. She claimed she had never received my details to issue the refund, despite the fact that she replied to my email (one of many containing the details) stating she would process the refund on that same day. If there is one thing I cannot stand its liars.

I see how they extended the special offer AGAIN, despite saying all along it couldn't be extended, the cynicle side of me thinks they are wanting to get as many upfront payments as possible....

I wouldn't recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Hmmmm I've just booked up today with an local, very reputable events company which works frequently with my venue. It's costing me £4.50 a chair (and that's with a wedding fair discount!) but at least it'll all be done without me losing any sleep over it.

I'm so sorry that you've had all this stress, IWantToBeFree - but at least you've got your money back so that you can sort something else out.

I'd added this supplier to "ahem" one of my spreadsheets if our venue had ugly chairs, but checking back on the thread, it might not be a great idea until they've sorted themselves out and people start posting about receiving a good service and everything arriving for the day as planned. Please post back if you have placed an order and let us know how it's gone.

I'm looking at dates in March or Apr so as I pointed out to OH that once everyone is in, their jackets will be on the back of the chairs anyway, so maybe I don't need to get them anyway.....
