Hi! as a follow up to my message re HSBC's delay in providing a credit card, I have FINALLY received a reply from the customer services dept which apologised for the mess and refunded me the £96 in interest that I had been charged by the competitors card due to the delay in issueing the new card - a result I think! I would suggest that any other folk who have problems like mine are persistent as it took at least 3 letters to different depts to achieve this. The first 2 resulted in negative responses but my suggestion that the call centre staff did not seem to be trained in responding to my actual problem seemed to hit a nerve and a cheque was awaiting my return from holiday. Stick at it and don't take no for an answer! If you go to the ombudsman it will cost them money - probably more than paying you a little refund.

I applied for a HSBC CC online about a month ago then a few days later went into my local branch where they noticed the application on their systems and gave me the paperwork there and then to sign. Had the card through a few days later...

I've only ever had good service from HSBC and I suspect as of the end of this month it'll get better as I shall now be working for them.
