So far so good. Applied 2wks ago & recieved the approved letter this morning, requesting lastest pay slip & a recent utility bill. The only thing is, all my utility bills are now given me on-line, the last paper one ive got is a gas/electric one, on Aug 2005, do you think that will be ok?0

Martiman, If I were you I would send the Aug 05 bill along with a screen print of online bill and just a note to explain that now on online billing.

I had a similar problem and called them to expalin this. They said I could send any other c/card statement or bank statement if i had originals of those as the requirement was only to cnfirm my address and nothing else.0 -
I have just been approved for a HSBC credit card. Do you know if I shall get charged if a write and cheque and pay it into my current account. How long do you have to transfer balances after the account has opened?0

You have 30 days from the account opening date to qualify for 0% on a balance transfer. Credit card cheques do not qualify for 0%. The rate for them is 17.3%.0 -
trevored wrote:I went into my local HSBC branch yesterday & applied for the card. Showed proof of ID (Passport & Dr.Lic) completed the process in about 25 mins including my balance transfer. The only unusual aspect was that I was told (after confirming with two colleagues) that I could not set up a Direct Debit as I did not hold a HSBC bank a/c.
I've never come across that before anyone else been told the same?
Update: Card applied for in person at local HSBC branch on 2.2.06 card arrived in post 4.2.06!
Having been 'Stoozing' now for last 3 years, that's the fastest card delivery ever! Forget about applying online (which I normally do), if you want one of these cards apply at a branch - excellent service!0 -

Whereas I applied online 13th December and still haven't received the damn thing in the post yet. Utility bills etc where returned to me three weeks ago now.

 Has anyone else had major problems obtaining a card? I applied before Christmas 2005 and still have not resolved the delay! several calls to the call centre resulted in me being assured that the card would be posted to me in 7 to 10 days - so far no card! I have written several letters to different customer service addresses as requested by them and have cancelled the application as I needed the card by April for stoozing purposes - the delay cost me £96 in interest charges. I have requested compensation for this, but so far no deal! Anyone else got the same problem?0

I moved all my banking operations to HSBC in October last year, and can honestly say I have been very happy with them, in all respects. They were not willing to give me a credit card immediately (long story), but said they would watch my accounts, and call me in to chat again in 3 months ... which they did, and I was given a credit card. They also helped my with a few other issues that were bothering me, and those are all resolved to my satisfaction.
I was checking my bank accounts online the other day and found a message saying I could request a Maestro card to replace my Solo debit card (which includes cheque guarantee up to £100). Clicked on the appropriate button, and Hey Presto! A few days later I have my new Maestro card, with all the info to go with it.
So yeah - I am more than impressed with the service I have had from them!! And, I might add, I do NOT have lots of money saved or anything, so am really just a very small fish in the sea for them. But I am certainly a very satisfied customer at this stage!!
