I applied for a hsbc credit card and just got a reply from them saying that they require further information. What further information do they normally require and does this now mean i will be offered a low limit because of this?
thanks for your help in advance!

It's generally just a final ID check.
If you're not happy sending this through the post, pop down to your local branch with driving licence (for name) and recent utility bill in your own name (for address). Take your current account details, along with the card details for any balance transfers you wish to make. Be prepared for a PPI hard sell.
With regard to credit limit, this will have been set already based on the information you provided during the application and a CRA search. The branch staff will be able to tell you what it is when you visit.0 -
In the post this morning I had my signed Application form returned to me with a request for the items of names/address ID. In my reply I suggested to them that it might have been more efficient to have sent that request with the Application form in the first place!
Anyway at least things are moving. Applied on the net on Jan 5th and I've had 3 communications from them already. It's going to be a tight squeeze for my balance transfer though, if they don't get a move on!0 -

When I took out my egg savings account I had to provide additional ID.. weird as HSBC app was OK online and Mint.. so I guess it depends what systems/software they use. I wouldn't worry to much at this stage!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

I applied online 5th Jan 06, got the agreement on the 18th asking me to sign and return it along with my last payslip and a utility bill. I also enclosed my inland revenue tax credit award as it makes up almost 50% of my total income and I felt it was relevant to my application.
The online application had asked for my total income, not my annual salary, and I felt I should enclose the tax credit award to explain why my wage slip didnt match the figure I'd quoted.
I received the card yesterday with a credit limit of £2500. However I have not yet had my documents returned nor received my pin number. (They say the pin was posted on 25th but are sending an internal memo to find out where my documents have gone)
Total setup time from date of application - 22 days.

I havnt recieved the agreement as yet, just a letter saying that they cannot complete the application as they need further information. They say if i dont reply in 7 days then they will presume that i dont want the card no more.Ill have to wait till monday i suppose."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

Hi
Our application for an HSBC card has been going on since the beginning of December! What a joke.
They also asked us for further information - basically a bill and a pay slip which we sent and then got a contract sent to us, which we then signed and returned and now nothing. My partner will be ringing them up tonight to ask them what the holdup is - in the meantime I have paid over £100 in interest on the card we are BTing from.0 -
Finally got my pin today, 7 days after they 'supposedly' posted it to me. Still not received my documents back though, will give them a couple more days then phone or write to complain.

Hi all
Having badgered my boss about paying interest on his credit card he applied for the HSBC credit card. They asked him for further info which he provided - a couple of weeks went by and he'd heard nothing. He called the other day to see what the problem was and was transferred to about 3 different departments all saying different things (he said one sounded Chinese, another Asian....he thought he was being transferred around the world!) - no-one seemed to know what to do with him or have any details. He eventually got through to someone who said "ah yes, we need a letter from your employer confirming your income" at which point he said "just forget it". There's customer service for you!Owned by [STRIKE]4[/STRIKE] 4 cats: 2 x Maine coon cross males, 1 x Pixie Bob male and[STRIKE] 2[/STRIKE] 1 x Norwegian Forest male....cute!

I think he chose the wrong card Petal. He'd Be quicker forgeting HSBC and applying for egg or barclaycard for example. My application for HSBC has been on going since mid December. I have been accepted with a credit limit of £3200 BUT , I repeat Butt, I am stilll waiting for the card. What a way to run a financial service.
