I havent been to the dentist for about a year, I had a retainer when at school and it damaged one of my front teeth, cut off the blood supply so I have no feeling in it (root is dead so can bite into an ice lolly no problem)

This tooth is more prone to staining, which is starting to bother me but according to my dentist my choices were.

    A. Drill into the back of the tooth just to check that the nerve is actually dead and if I jump off the chair its still a bit alive.........................Errrrm NO!!!!

    B. Use anathestic but if blood shoots out of my tooth then he will have killed the nerve off anyway.....................Fluck OFF!!!

Surely there must be another way to sort this bloody tooth out? I just want it whitened !!!!!!.

    C. Allow Dentist to carry out above procedures with patient holding dentists testicles.
    :D:D stay wonky :D:D

Teeth that are dead or 'non vital' nearly always discolour!
Bleaching would have little effect but a tooth can be bleached from the inside by drilling a small hole into the back of it, inserting a special material and sealing it back up again, this would lighten it a little but not completely.
have you asked about having a veneer done on the tooth?

If you're private then they will probably charge you for missing the appointment and not book another unless you pay the charge.

If you have a good past track record of attending they may not charge if you have a geniune excuse, I'd get them phoned up as soon as possible!
Right now actually - then it's done! That goes for the rest of you too! sally, Ames etc

First one to report back with a bonafide appointment gets a gold star!

Yes thats what he said, I have read about veneers and also those surface fillings where they file the tooth down and paint on some dentist stuff (dont think thats its technical name)

Maybe I should just get them all out and get me a set of brand new gnashers:D

Have you suffered with this before Cat or just since bambino?

My mum's had proper diabetes (type 1 / diabetes mellitus) for over 55 years so because of the family history I was tested routinely for gestational diabetes. it's always been a bit fluctuatey (if I've pricked a finger I'd test it using mum's testing strips) but never anything to worry about. But yesterday's glucose tolerance showed a high fasting blood sugar level which isn't that good. Of course problem with gestational diabetes is tendency to big babies that need some special care and I really don't want the neonatologists to get their hands on Evie. I'm not particularly wanting a big baby to push out either:o
