Can i get out of my student loan?!

Whereas bank charges are wholly unfair and disproportionate, and credit card debts can spiral out of control due to terrible personal circumstance and massive interest rates. These lenders won't take 'I'm earning less than £15,000' as an excuse - you've gotta pay up, no matter what. That's my viewpoint, anyway.[/quote]
mmmmmm OK. But as unfair as the terms and conditions on ccs and bank loans may be. They were there for people to read and agree to by signing the bit of paper. I mean, if they were considered to be unfair... don't sign.
But I shall go away now. Thanks for answering my question even though I accept it didn't really belong here.
Have a happy day0 -

I do know what you mean though! You can easily argue both ways.
Hope you have a happy day too! :j0 -

Thanks ONW, that's much more succinct than my reply!
Incidently, I seem to have you mixed up with another user called Olderbutnotwiser over on the Debt Free Wannabee board. I thought you were one and the same, but you're not!0 -
You need to sort out the national insurance number issue - you would have been allocated one at birth and they have sent you the wrong one - which probably belongs to somebody else! If you ever have to claim benefits, you may find yourself in a bit of bother. Once sorted out, you can then contact the student loans company and start repaying the loan which you borrowed - afterall, if you don't pay it back it means more debt for us poor taxpayers who have already a big enough burden as it is (yes, I was a student and will start to make payments in April).0

Ahhhh succint maybe but smacks a little of double standards.
I think your advice to students may be to not get a student loan but max out on other loans and ccs and then default and it'll all be very acceptable because regardless of agreeing to the t&cs they are big mean moneymaking fat cats.
Thanks.0 -

The way this country's going at the minute though, all the banks are going to be helped by taxpayerstrying to become a moneysaving student0 -

Where did you pull that conclusion from?! Everyone in this thread agrees that loans should be repaid. I don't think ANYONE would give the 'advice' you suggest.0
