I do stand by the fact that their masks are quite Slipknot-esq though.

    I disagree.

I feel it is Slipknot who are derivative to the welder when it comes to mask based paraphernalia.

What I meant is, if you're a company targetting a job then you set the price you want to pay before going out for it. You decide you want a fruit picker, you set the wage at £6, you advertise it, you employ good people who apply. If someone comes up and offers you a bucket of foreigners for £3 an hour you don't take it.
But as a business you would be stark staring bonkers not to take a lower cost offer. And this applies equally to the building trade, and other semi skilled / skilled areas. For IT and other back office functions 'they' don't even need to come to the UK to perform whatever function is required.

I do sympathise with how workers are being shafted by loss of jobs, and earnings power, and how our businesses are suffering from foreign competition. But I don't see a solution other than being better and working harder / smarter.

The days of "one out all out" have gone for good. Was it on here I read that when workers were threatening a walk out over possible redundancies the company (JCB I think) said fine but can you make it at least eight weeks out please.

I'll stop for a while now. We all have different angles on this, most of them completely valid.

I know that sounds like a ideal world scenario, but most companies tend to have fairly public rates of pay and do stick to them.

Maybe I am a closet communist?

I am sure my girlfriend who went through decades of impoverishment at the hands of the Ruskis will be jolly glad to hear that.

I'll get my ballalika on the way out....

On that basis do you also feel that they are derivative to clowns, S&M practitioners and pigs?

Having just googled a more expansive image of them I feel they may be derivative to insanity.

Have you heard them? They sound like 28 drunk, angry, !!!!!! lions colliding with a freight train filled with fireworks. They are dumb, stupid, loud, fast, pointless and utterely brilliant. A bit like the band Keane, but covered in hundreds and thousands, high on speed and ecstasy and with songs re-done by Lemmy from Motorhead.

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.
Read the sticky on the House Buying, Renting & Selling board.

I have an alternate view to add. Since when did companies have to pay a fixed wage scale for a job? This sounds very old Labour 1970's union stuff to me. If person A will do the job as well as person B, but A will accept less then why shouldn't a company employ person A?

If I lose my current income stream, I will be directly targeting my competitors and offering the same service for less than them. I do hope it doesn't start a riot.

And the natural end to your view mewbie is we will all be on the minimum wage, down to the lowest number.Just one question, where is all the tax going to come from to finance the health service, education, armed forces etc.??.
We them become a 4th rate country,no infra structure, health service, the army will be throwing sticks, doctors armed with nothing more than Paracetamol and teachers only teaching 1 day a week(nothing new there then:rotfl: ).........

GOING TO HELL IN A HAND CART !!! SO SAD ,HOW THE ONCE PROUD AND MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

I have not heard any Slipknot other than possibly a few clips on the TV. Tool have been introduced to me recently and Motorhead a lot less recently and I am more fond of the latter to be honest...
