Seagate (new) is 5 and 6

fujitsu (old) is 7 and 8

does that make sense?

Look at the back of the drive, where you unplugged the cables. Those diagrams are meant to represent the rear of the drives!

For the Seagate, look to the left of where you pulled out the power cable (four wires on it, two black, one yellow and one red) - hopefully, you'll see some jumpers.



There!

Right next to the power plug, you can see the jumper pins.

gone into bios setting
there is an option for "IDE HDD AUTO DETECTION"
is that the one to select?
