I will ring them and calmly and clearly let them know that I have been overcharged and the Duty manager (name known) refused a refund under their policy!
I am away for the week so I will try and get a message to you to let you know how I get on!
I did exactly that this morning and HO rang the stored and ordered the R&R.
Very pleased.TESCO R&R was so much fun!.. Over a grand made!0 -
Hi all
I am new to this site and have been amazed by how much I have saved over the last few weeks - and believe me with 3 children (including an 8 week old baby) my savings have been needed. I previously never used to check my receipts and have been shocked at how many items are in fact mispriced and wonder exactly how many times over the past 14 years that I have been shopping at Tescos, that I may have been overcharged and never realised! I did not know about the policy and when I did notice that I had been overcharged on a DVD about a year ago, only received the price difference and not the item free! I am shocked that Hey Dude received this treatment and only the price difference. If Tescos have this policy in place they should stick to it, particularly if charging more than the price is marked at is an offence.
I would like to know what these customer service staff are being told and why they are not sticking to shop policies. Why the hell are they trying to save Tescos money - after all, for each customer that has spotted the incorrect price how many haven't? I also wonder how many people are unaware of the policy and just accept the price difference or are too shy to query the policy with customer services?
If I worked for this multi-million pound company I wouldn't bat an eyelid if customers required a refund, surely it is better to have happy customers rather than risking losing business by upsetting them - or is Tescos now so big they don't care?
I have also noticed whilst reading other threads that various Tescos staff have different ideas on vouchers. I tried to use some vouchers a couple of weeks ago that I received from a baby club and the lady on the till said she could only accept 10%, yet when I went to Tescos yesterday another lady on the till accepted all of my vouchers and also typed in ones that would not scan which totalled 20% of my shopping. Some till staff will only accept 1 voucher and others only if you have bought the product. I really think they need to get their act together, and advise what exactly they do or don't accept and advise their employees.
By the way I bought a valentine mug today as I thought it was lovely and had read that they were being charged incorrectly but it scanned at the correct price (just incase you were going to try it).
I am now looking forward to finding a misprice on my receipt so that I can see how the CS deal with it at my local store - and god help them if I don't get it for free!
I will be watching this thread...........

I can answer this one.....
For each customer that recieves R&R Tesco gives away products / money. This means that profits are reduced.
Staff wages and payrises as well as the share price (which all staff get in the way of a bonus) are determined by the profit that is made therefore the more money that is saved the higher the profits and the higher the wages / payrise / share price. If I worked for this multi-million pound company I wouldn't bat an eyelid if customers required a refund
I challenge you to spend a whole day on a customer service desk and still have the same opinion at the end of it.........Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

Out of interest how much of your last bonus was made up of money fleeced from unsuspecting customers due to illeagal overcharging?
I suspect that you don't really care about that. We are all selfish at the end of the day.
You rob us and we rob you back...all is even.TESCO R&R was so much fun!.. Over a grand made!0 -
spa2k - in answer to your comments, I do understand that if customers get free items then this will reduce profit and may affect bonuses, but if items were priced correctly then they wouldn't have to give the items away! I would also imagine that for all the people who were overcharged and did not notice or did not get a refund, would make up for the people who did! (Until they find this website anyway). In my opinion Tescos staff who are scamming people by advertising at one price and then charging another and then not sticking to store policies do not deserve a bonus!
Oh and I guarantee you that I would still have the same opinion after a day on a customer service desk and would like to know why you think I wouldn't.

Hmmmmm.TESCO R&R was so much fun!.. Over a grand made!0 -
SPA2K - Can i ask you a question. If you went shopping in Tescos and was charged extra for an item and I mean a few pounds not a few pence for example - would you not question it - and as the policy is clear you should get the item free and they were not going to do this would you not ask why?? Surely even if you work for Tescos you may also be a customer aswell?

Went back to Tesco Quedgely today - (I had major problems there with a R&R about a week ago - posted earlier in this thread).
Anyhow, decided to test the water - this is not my usual Tesco - must have had less than 10 R&Rs at this store over the last few months....................
I think you should really stick to your guns here, if they say that you've had several r&r's in the last couple of months I think you should ask them to print off the information so that you can take it with your reciept that you always keep (maybe everyone should start keeping these!!) to Trading Standards as your sure they would be very interested in how regularly Tesco over-charge & that you know TS don't check them regularly because they have the r&r policy - but if they're not going to stick to it or try to intimidate customers who ask them to, then your sure they would be very interested. At £2000 fine per miss price I'm sure they should think twice!0
