Thanks for your support Sue UU!
I'm gonna keep thinking about what you said when I'm training/doing it.... others are depending on us doing this. Could even help me in the long run!
I worked out a walk that is 5k in total, and on that is 10k.... gonna work up to the 10k then the actual day feels easy!!!♥.0 -
This year is my 2nd year! My sister and I are doing it in fancy dress. I can run 5k (just about), but my sister can't, so we're doing the Couch to 5K training programme. Feel free to join everyone else here if you haven't already seen the thread!

Hi All,
I just thought that i would mention i am running the Race for Life this year. This is the first time i have done it so going to need all the support i can get, as i am sooo unfit so it is probably going to be a bit of a challenge for me! I recently lost my grandma to cancer, so i'm doing the Race For Life in memory of her. I don't want to sound cheeky but if anyone could please spare any money to sponser me, then it would be very much appreciated, and after all it is going to a very worthwhile cause!
My fundraising page is; http://www.raceforlifesponsorme.org/lucybeaty

GOING OFF-TOPIC
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: While it’s easy to wander off-topic that often prevents newbies finding the information they want quickly and easily (please see this rule). Please keep this thread on topic. If you’d like to discuss non-MoneySaving related topics please continue your discussion in The MoneySavers Arms or Discussion Time. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
I have merged some Race for Life threads so you can all encourage one another. However at the same time I have deleted some posts and asked abuse to take a look at them - they will put them back if they think I should not have done so.
Meanwhile if you want to debate the ethics of medical research, the place for that would be Discussion Time.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Training Update!
After a vigourous training session on Monday I got the most awful blisters which shocked even the nurses at work so I've been bandaged up and hobbling ever since.
Going on a walking weekend on Friday so hope to be able to keep up the pace, am determinded to get fit for this 5k even if it kills me (and it might)!
Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me, especially the lovely Sue-UU.
Good luck and keep up the training!:staradmin0 -
Hi guys hope you don't mind me joining this thread.
I am doing the Northamptonshire one at silverstone.
Have just signed up to do this. After all the street i live in seems riddled with this disease although its probably no worse than anywhere else. Just seems bad when you live here lol. Two neighbours that i know of have had breast cancer, one neighbour dad died from lung cancer, one neighbour has had thyroid cancer - just seems to many to me.
Any way my page is here :
