I'm starting a new fitness/diet regime this week going back to the gym and want to know what is the best way to burn fat and and get a great body, i want to lose a few stone but don't want to lose weight and end up with flab, i want to tone up and get a curvy figure. What are the best foods to eat before training and after should i use weights and do cardio?
I have been a gym member for almost 10 years and i have done heaps of diets in the last 10 years.. i lost 5 stone back in 00/01 but over the years it has creeped back on and i'm now fatter than when i first started  even when i lost all that weight i still had loads of flab that i couldn't shift i did cardio and weights and lots of classes and swimming cut out most junk food and booze but i still couldn't get that curvy figure  so if there is anyone on here than can help me i would greatly appreciate it :T

My advice is not to be scared of weights and do HIIT (high intensity interval training - if you google you will find lots of useful websites.) Not very moneysaving but if you can afford it have a session with a personal trainer who will be able to assess your goals and work out a good routine for you.

all i can tell u is what i do, everyone is different of course so ...
anyway i lost 8 stone with atkins and i gym 3 times a week, i have a back problem so cant do too high an intensity so i use the treadmill and march with small dumbells and do exercises with them while i am on the treadmill and do incline intervals where it gets steeper, i just walk as i cant run
i started with 10mins and worked my way up from there. the best advice i can give is to start slow as if u go all out at once u wont stick it, everytime something becomes easier to do, adjust your time, weight, speed or incline to make it more challenging
at one point i didnt actually lose weight but i lost inches and dropped a size just from the work in the gym

Thing is i have done dieting and exercise for the last 10 years (yoyo) i once lost 4-5 stone the problem is i never got the curvy figure i desired i either looked like posh spice or i looked plump i can not figure out a way to get rid of the flab esp around my tummy  i don't think i was eating the right things before when i lost the weight i just cut out all the bad things and just eat very little i was borderline eating disorder  now i have piled on the 5 stone plus more  i really need to get on some sort of diet and exercise plan before i end up obese.0 -
Hi! I'm a great believer of everything in moderation. So I try to eat well (and log my eating on a website called 'the daily plate' which calculates my calories for me, and tells me if I've eaten enough / too much. I also try to do both cardio and weight training. Upper body exercises (dumbells - biceps, triceps, chest & shoulder exercises) and lower body exercises (squats and lunges are particularly good) build up muscle, which will not only raise your metabolic rate, but also give you the shape you are looking for. Cardio I do for my heart & general health.
From a moneysaving point of view, I do these in my own home, and don't pay gym dues!0 -
What confuses me is what to eat before and after training

bikram yoga! Give it a try, most places that do it offer 10 days for £10 it really alters your mind and body and the way you eatMember no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
