The easy bit was finding the money. The hard part will be preventing the OH from spending it. If he realises our monthly surplus was that big he'll want to continue with some of the projects we started last year but which I made him put on hold due to finances. I am getting rather bored of saying to him it might only be £200 but we really can't afford it, but at the mo. We seem to have that conversation at least once a week, usually after hes been on E-bay, and a month later wahtever it was has been replaced by something else. I do feel like the Wicked Witch of the West though.

8 items listed on E-bay. Too cold to do anymore. Even with the coal fire on the house isn't quite at 15 degrees C. I'm vaguely considering niping outside to prune as hedge as a way of warming up.

Quidco has paid out £2.92 and I already have bids on some of my E-bay junk. Hedges partially partially, snow stopped play. Panic initiated as OH arrives home tomorrow not tuesday, not a clue why I thought it was tuesday but anyway it means I have a day less to do all the things I should have got around to whilst he was absent and tomorrow is chocka with a mystery shop and a trip to the vets to fit in as well.

Mystery shop done and entered. Walked in the door and realised I have the keys to the school boiler house in my pocket which means noone can over ride the heating, not very MSE but it is snowing and in a very frugal way it turns off at 11:30 am whilst the doors to the playground are open over lunch. Will be popping in there to return them en route to vets.

Have spent a hapy 5 mins in the snow attempting to get the dog to pee in a jam jar. Result one rather wet very smelly sleeve. 3 drips in jar. Shes so hairy I couldn't figure out what was going where until it was too late. No housework done (oops!) Will run round like a demented loony this afternoon.

I'm £26.11 lighter but it was worth every penny. Whilst the dog might be going on for 15 and selectively deaf as a post (but able to hear real meat being plonked in her dish from 3 rooms away) theres nothing wrong with her kidneys, although shes been getting up a lot during the night it looks like that was an infection thats cleared. She hasn't developed diabetes, shes very robust at 33kg and best of all her heart is sound. She does have a build up of tartar on her back teeth which needs cleaning off but this would need to be done under a sedative. Can't say I'm too keen so we're trying a free sample of tartar control doggie biccies. Shes not impressed. I showed her the packet, she bounced around like a puppy, I offered her a biscuit and she snoofed through her nose, stuffed it regally up in the air and wandered off to see if the cat had anything more appetising worth stealing.

Lunch munched. Keys returned to school. Mystery shop booked for weds. Watchers on everything I've put on Flea-bay and bids on two items. Teeny tiny amounts of snow floating down, flights from Europe all delayed so OH will be back considerably later than expected. Off to do some housework. Really I am. Really really I am. Oh I'm so full of enthusiasm.

Sitting in my PJs waiting to hear if schools shut. The local weather report is fab. Theres 8" of snow and the local council hasn't got round to gritting anywhere. I'm a mile from the nearest road of any significance so if I do have to go to school I'm leaving the DDs at home to play in the snow and I'll walk in. So I'll be v. late no matter what. But since it took me 45 minutes to drive the 12 mile detour to avoid all the really steep hills I doubt it will take me much longer to walk, especially if I take the sledge for the hilly bits.

OH made it home eventually but had problems getting up the last hill home.

Meanwhile my can't be arsed shopping week store cupboard challenge means that I haven' been shopping for over a week so we're out of spuds and running rather low on frozen veg but the cupboards are still jam packed. OH will have to put up with more rice and cous cous than normal.

Hope you're all snuggled up warm and those of you that do have to go out manage without incident.
