Financial faux pas and other disasterous decisions

Hi Floozie,
I only have adobe reader which is probably 95% of the problem. It would be infinately easier to post them all the documents but it appears I can't do that either. I hate paperwork.... almost as much as I hate people who don't cash cheques for eons. Although I'm skint my bank balance is still very positive thanks to people not cashing cheques. Most annoying. Its far too tempting to think oooh I have got cash after all and then remember the cheques but not be too convinced how much they were for.
Washing is out. Desk is tidy. Children are chowing. Perhaps we will make it to the outlet village as it opens so we can be home before the hordes descend. Probably not though.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I'm losing the will to live already today. All I want to do is submit schools annual return to the charity commission although it appears I can only do this as a PDF document but I can't figure out how to convert it. I've converted 2 of the 3 documents but the third is eluding me its already in a .xlsx format which I can't open to do anything with. I've even tried scanning the paper copy and attempting to save that as a pdf or as something I can convert from but no joy. Its driving me up the wall. Still I've completed the rest of the paperwork they want and have e-mailed schools auditor to see if she can re-save it as a pdf. Most annoying!
Hi moo
I struggle with .xlsx and .docx files - I found if you resave them as .xls (or .doc, respectively), i.e. an earlier version of Excel/Word, you can then mess with them (hopefully including .pdf stuff). The other way I use is to 'print' them to Adobe, instead of the other/default type printer.
Hope this helpsMortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -

Thank you anyway. I will harass those that can do things with the .xlsx format and see if they can wave a magic wand in the right direction.
Meanwhile back on planet Moo its 6:15am on a slightly overcast monday morning and I have already made the mistake of checking my e-mails. Not good. Apparently the PTA have arranged for the chocolate fountain to be collected at 8am. If only it were that straightforward. It comes with 8 china dishes and some wooden skewers which are missing in action somewhere within school. Also missing in action are an umbrella and someone else thinks theres a possibility the coconut shie balls may have ended up in the bin. I forsee it being a rather hectic start to the morning.
Three towns later we finally found shoes to fit both DDs. Turns out they both have very narrow feet needing a D fitting which most branches of Clarks don't stock. £62 later new shoes acquired. Fortunately OHs wage and overtime arrived yesterday too so things weren't as hairy as I was anticipating. Rummaging through the cupboard I found a new pair of riding boots in the right size for DD1 bought in a slae last year and a very battered pair that DD1 has outgrown which now fit DD2 but will need resoling in the not too distant future. Still its two things less to buy. Wellies seem to fit OK for the moment.
Treated the DDs to new PJs as they're growing like weeds again.Handme downs never quite seem to last through two children without wearing out. After gift vouchers I parted with 60p and I ordered another couple of pairs from Amazon using the soon to expire gift voucher. DD1 also needs new trousers as hers are both half mast and holey. They'll wait another few weeks though until school breaks up because until then shes either in PJs, school uniform, or riding jodphurs.
OH seems to be getting on better with the fake glowing fag although hes very self concious with it. Not surprising since he does look like a complete plank with a childrens toy. Still after 2 days his breath doesn't make me want to vomit first thing in a morning which is a distinct improvement and hes nowhere near as grumpy as I was expecting.
Plan for today:- Wave a magic wand and transorm school into a haven for teaching in under 60 minutes - so not going to happen
- Box up the left over school fayre tat and dispose of whilst checking theres nothing Music Magpieable or E-bayable and perusing the books I didn't get chance to look at on Friday.
- Laundry, more laundry and some ironing
- Clean two bathrooms
- Lots and lots and lots of tidying

Have just noticed OH has gone to work without his baccy tin. I assume its been left behind intentionally because its empty. Perhaps the fake fag is actually working. Dares to hope that this is actually stage one of a very very long road to a fag free OH but we've been here before about thirty times over the last decade. Everytime I get excited that this time hes actually going to have the bottle to cope with the cravings. I tip toe around on my best behaviour trying not to antagonise him because by day three hes unbareably grouchy, by day four hes like an unexploded nuclear weapon and by day five moving house always seems like a good option. But then he rarely makes it to day three let alone day five.
I never know whether to shut up and not comment on the lack of fags therefore not reminding him that hes missing them or to constantly praise him Barbara Woodhouse style. He did once attempt to perdaude me to assist him to quit Jade Goode style. In a moment of sheer genius she quit by substituting fags for adult activities. Clearly she wasn't a 40+ a day smoker. Even your average hooker doesn't see that much action on a daily basis.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

I found that people mentioning it made me want to mug them for their fags0 -
Four hours later school almost looks like a school again. The numpties that did the shopping bought 200 packets of crisps which expire on Friday. Enormous sticky chocolate fountain is still in the middle of the nursery classroom. Its too heavy to move and claerly this morning 8am collection didn't happen. Finally managed to post on freecycle. Someones coming to collect all the left over junk this afternoon. It will save me lots of trips to the chairty shops who probably wouldn't be able to flog the stuff anyway.
Came across 100 surplus taple bread rolls so will have happy chickens when I eventually remember to bring them home.
Washing on the line. Off to do something productive before heading back to school to continue scraping melted chocolate off things.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Meanwhile the OH has handed over a further £25 to the fake yet glowing fag company. The £33 starter kit has run out already. It does have some positive sides though. his snoring is no longer disturbing me at night which tends to say theres less carp in his lungs. Some nights they were so fluid filled it sounded like a death rattle from someone who was drowning. He can also smell things which is something that hasn't happened in years. I haven't noticed any increase in his appetite but I'm keeping an eye on that too, his jelly belly is big enough as it is. Any bigger and he'll be needing maternity wear. Must come up with a stealth way to get him to do more exercise.
Found the bottom of the laundry basket then tidied the DDs rooms. Laundry basket is now overflowing again. Things seem to be getting tidier very very slowly. The bin men are due today, there wasn't much in the bin so I've added a large sack of rubble from the front garden, its only two years since the builders left but you wouldn't know it. Perhaps today is as good as any to do the 25 mile round trip to the nearest tip which accepts rubble. Perhaps not.
Yesterdays freebie was a very disappointing copy of Gardeners World magazine. Its full of pictures of flowers and adverts. I'm rather glad I didn't renew my subscription. The best news of all though is a £100 reduction in my childcare bill for the summer - whooopppeee - it means I need to clean the building holiday club use three times a week for five weeks but thats no major headache. Sounds like I'll be given my original cheque back to replace with a smaller one in order to save paperwork.
Plan for today:- wave a magic wand and come up with something for dinner using the dregs of the freezer - its all mince and sausages
- parents evening at school - oh joy!
- lots and lots more laundry
- clean the bathrooms that I didn't get round to yesterday (I am a slovenly ho)
- contemplate clearing junk out of the front garden so it no longer resembles a builders skip minus the skip
- lots and lots more cleaning and tidying
- list 5 things on flea bay
