Rat bait update - Day 3.
Following the advice of those who spend far too much time doing such things DD1 has been gradually reducing the quantity of cat food shes providing for the rats whilst simultaneously eradicating lumps, in theory the sloppier the food the longer the rats need to eat it and so the longer you have to take aim and splat. The reality is somewhat different. Whilst a 9 year old mushing cat food with a fork is one thing, a nine year old armed with a stick blender, a very small amount of cat food and a very large bowl is another. Today will be spent scraping dried on cat food from the ceiling.
Rats spotted - nil
Local animals well fed: 3 cats, 1 dog and a field mouse.
Meanwhile those of us who are vaguely more civilised than our offspring spent the day ironing. I'm far too sunburnt to risk venturing outdoors at the moment. Clearly I need something stronger than factor 30 for Augusts shoot.
Finally got a UK address to send Mays final E-bay parcel to and will be posting that on my way to work this morning. OH finally seems to have got the general idea that we are tidying the entire house whether he likes it or not. More and more stuff is making its way to the shed and a surprising amout has finally made it to the wheely bin. Still need to persuade him that dust covered remote control cars do not live on window sills and even very tollerant wives have concerns about giant trainsets in their bedrooms. Then theres the small matter of the two Scalectrix sets and the overflow box of additional track. There are some days its like living with a 12 year old boy rather than an almost 40 year old man.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Thanks for all the support peeps. Yesterdays teary snivelly glitch is now firmly behind me. Theres nothing I can do about it. Instead I spent yesterday attempting to supervise 32 children at an athletics tournament. I have no idea how teachers do it. Coach doors opened children emerged like a row of ducklings following the mother duck (PE teacher) 15 minutes later he'd vanished and they'd scattered to all four corners of the compass. Not helped by the 400m walk to the toilet block. You'd be amazed how many times a 7 year old requires the loo. Multiply that by the 8 in that year and voila, at least three children were in the loo at any one time. Complicate this by seating al the children in a raised stadium with two sets of steps and it becomes a living hell. Which got infinately worse following the arrival of parents with younger siblings on the way home from school. Child running the 400m was bought an ice cream minutes before his race was announced, ate it very rapidly and then felt sick before they'd even started running. Five children left with parents, three of which didn't bother to tell the teacher. I won't be volunteering for that again in a hurry. Finally got home from work completely shattered at 8pm.
Did manage to scrpae the cat food off the ceiling though so it wasn't a completely wasted day. Today will be spent retrieving Hama beads from pretty much everywhere. Moral of the story is always always always check the beads have melted before pealing the ironing paper off the beading board. Apparently DD2s life is ruined!
