Its gloriously sunny outside already. Today is going to be a lovely day! I've already won £1 on the scratchcards which allowed me to withdraw another free tenner. One very dull survey later £3 is winging its way to my paypal account. Still not got round to listing anything on E-bay. I am a very lazy moo.
Nothing else to report. Off to evict the snoring farting chuntering DDs from their pits.

I'm back to my normal cheerful self having spent a few days berrating myself for failing to see what was slap bang under my nose. My second lightbulb moment. DD1 has dyspraxia, formerly known as clumsy chid syndrome. Its still not officially diagnosed as shes too inconsistent but it does explain a lot.
DD1 as my first born is to me perfect. A bit dippy at times, but with me as a mother thats no big surprise. Shes left handed so I've always assumed that her diabolical handwriting is because of that. She can't ride a bike, well neither can a lot of kids and the most heinous crime ever she can't bounce a ball and catch it again one handed. Shes always been behind at school and finds reading really difficult but shes making loads and loads of progress. At home shes lively, bouncy, bubbly and happy. She does things at her own pace but at school she has to do everything at everyone elses pace which is just too fast for her. Not helped by my choosing to send her to a very high achieving school. Fortunately one with a great special needs department. Its previously been implied that shes either lazy or has a multitude of very minor broad spectrum learning difficulties. Had she been my second child then I'd have had something to compare it to and I'd have reached this conclusion far far earlier. I've been feeling truly awful that I hadn't realised how different she was and perhaps done something about it rather than acknowledging that she was different and assisting when she needed help but leaving her to develop as and when she was ready. I can't change the past and I doubt that I'd have done things any differently anyway. At least I've got some great pointers for helping her to learn to ride the bike. If only so I no longer have to run along for miles next to her holding her up.
Onwards and upwards.
Cheque for OHs friends car insurance and service finally arrived. Matched betting has been pants all week although since I've been rather lacking in the enthusiasm department thats not really surprising. Nothing listed on E-bay but I have done tons and tons and tons of housework.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I feel for you. At least the school will help. My DS2 has Dyslexia, where I live its not recognised. I've had various different educational psychologists to asses him and according to them he was not at risk of Dyslexia. Feeling like a pushy parent and desperately trying to get help for him I took him to be assessed at the Dyslexia Institute, the results showed he was as bad as you could get! He has been having specialist lessons (paid for by us) since 2006 and he will be finishing at the summer hols.

I am so with you on this. You can't change the past and how you reacted but being a parent is so much about learning - kids don't come with a manual !! The issue has been identified now and i'm sure there is so much you can do to help your DD and yourself and the rest of the family. Sounds like the school she is at is supportive which is great.

You love her to bits, what more can you do? She obviously has a hugely supportive home life, and you've already started on getting the helpful tips on the bike riding.
That she knows she's loved is the most inportant thing in the world - the rest is just an extra on top. Good luck with getting the extra help.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -

I have been lurking on here since the dairy started and may I just say my GS had terrible handwriting and couldn't ride a bike although he wasn't behind in any other way. Anyhow one day he mastered the bike quite out of the blue and overnight his handwriting improved. My DD was told by the school that the two things go together. Strange but true.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

Hey moo - have stepped out of lurkersville again. A member of my family has just been diagnosed with dyspraxia - and he's well into a uni course. Its so easy after the event to say 'oh we should have known/spotted it' - but things really aren't that easy are they? btw - only my opinion - but there's something fantastic about accepting a child as they are and letting them develop at their own pace, the way you have. xOnward and upward - with the odd step to the side

Thank you all. I'm feeling a whole lot more positive today.
DD1 had a fabulous day yesterday (eventually). She passed her level 3 swimming course. Continual assesment so no pressure of tests which turn her into a gibbering wreck. OH had her phone me from the pool changing rooms as she was so surprised she'd locked herself in a cubical, burst into tears and refused to come out in case it wasn't true. Fortunately a 3 way conversation involving the presentation of a £10 note from daddys wallet under the door and the promise that he'd stop at the chippie on the way home and let her buy dinner for everyone convinced her it was real. Shes taking her certificate to show her teacher today. Its taken four attempts and almost a year to achieve but I'm one very proud mummy. I now have three weeks to convince her that level 4 does not take place in the deep end and that she won't be made to do anything that scares her. This mornings negotiations include a new swimming costume and a request for pink goggles. To be honest if she sasked for a complete new wardrobe weart to the pool and a matching towel I'd give in at the moment.
Yesterdays post brought with it a £10 Asda voucher and £6 High Street Shopping vouchers. I managed two matched bets, one which turned over some freebie cash, need to turn it over twice more before I can withdraw. The other £8.18 profit from a free bet. Boss was super nice and fed me home made cakes prior to telling me that I'll be spending tomorrow cutting a giant sheet of plyboard into A5 sized pieces. At least it means a morning playing with power tools and making lots and lots of mess.
Tonight is schools Easter bingo fundraiser. Should be loads of fun. Must remember to venture to the cashpoint at some point today more importantly must remember to take nukeable dinners to school for the DDs so that they don't starve or worse still remind the Head what a truly abysmal parent I am. They've complained that I've forgoten to feed them that many times that he keeps a stash of their favourite instant noodles in school just in case. Its not that I forget its just that 20 minutes without food is a very very long time to a bottomless 6 year old.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
