Had an eek moment as my eldest baby declared she'd aquired lady hair. Had to have the impromptu chat, the one that goes now this is nothing to worry about dear but you're turning into a gorilla, one who bleeds to death on a monthly basis but thats really nowt to worry about as you get to be really really grumpy and wander round muttering about PMT and eating chocolate which unfortunately will make the imminent zit explosion worse. Welcome to the sisterhood. Can't say she was overly impressed.

Its only half way through but Saturdays been rather expensive so far:

    £20 riding lessons
£35.94 go-go juice for my hairdryer as OH affectionately calls my car
£12 pellets for the various weaponary although hopefully thats a couple of months worth

Happily though I've been the recipient of £6 gift vouchers for a 2 week survey which took less than 30 seconds a day and a dozen postage stamps in a presentation pack. Also recieved a £15 off when I spent £20 plus P&P from La Redoute which was most tempting and would allow me to replace DD2s 3/4 size bed sheets but the offer isn't applicable to the ones that are £5.50 in the sale only the full price ones at £18 ech so I won't be bothering. Got to the check out stage before I discovered that little gem though.

I'd thrown in lots of things I didn't really need though so ultimately it saved me spending over a tenner to buy 1 sheet with another 5 thrown in for "free". Failry sure I can find the one sheet I could do with replaceing for less than that or I can shrink a double with the aid of my trusty dust covered sewing machine.

OH, his friend and DD1 are off shooting this morning. DD2 and I are off to the 75p special at the flicks to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs instead. Unfortunately its at the outlet village so will need to resist temptation (in the form of hot mini doughnuts) along the way.

Going round in circles with car insurance companies. Sick to death of entering all my details on comparison sites and clicking the "yes we're really cheap link" only to add more details and eventually get to the final page when the price quadruples or they say "uh oh". One fab company will give me a policy that ticks every box but won't allow me to protect nine years no claims bonus. Even a no fault claim would send the cost of next years policy with anyone else soaring. Oh joy.

The modifications section is driving me nuts. It turns out that anything not factory fitted is classed as a modification. Ok that makes sense but when the car in question is almost 20 years old and has had several owners theres no way to know what was factory fitted as standard, what was factory fitted as an optional extra and what someone else bolted on just because they could. I hate hunting for new insurance policies but anythings better than forking out stupid amounts of cash needlessly. Still I'm currently down to a £260 fully comp policy with zero excess and £20 cash back still wondering if I can find something a bit cheaper though as thats still rather a lot to pay for the boys toy.

  • I feel your pain Moo!! I'm currently on the car insurance merry-go-round and it does my head in to complete entering all the same repetietive details, only to find each one is more expensive than the last!

    Morning All

As a general piece of advice, staying up until 2.30 to read Tarzan of the Apes online, before a day when you've planned to lay a kitchen floor is not recommended. It was complete tosh & I enjoyed it immensely.

If anyone wants to be tempted into stupidity also, this is a great site which has loads of free downloadable books http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

    Happy kitchen floor laying Helen!

Two DooYoos done taking me over the £50 payout requiremnt. Now need to wait 72 hours before requesting my cheque.

Have abandoned hunting insurance companies. I can't find it any cheaper. So many exclude OHs occupation as too dangerous to insure or quadruple his policy because of his job which is farcical really as he drives to a secure car park with video surveilence and swipe cards and gate guards but apparently hes still too much of a risk to insure. Will get him to check the small print to make sure I haven't missed anything before I pay for it.

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs was dire and almost two hours long. DD2 spent the last 30 minutes sitting crushing my thighs through the scary bits. Still it was a treat although shes now trying to talk me into going for a bike ride to visit the horse down the lane. Hoping the rain stops for a bit first though.

Have survived the weekend intact spending a grnad total of £11.90 on entertainment yesterday (£1.90 for me and DD2 and £10 for OH and DD1). OHs day out came to a bit more then that but DD1 paid a chunk towards it from her pocket money as a treat for OH. Now firmly convinced that shes plotting something.

Spent the afternoon surfing E-bay for cellos. The only sensibly priced ones seem to be down south, now hoping her school one can be repaired assuming I can find a repairier in the area. OH has been tasked with giving it a once over this morning so that we can find someone to sort it out, did try on Saturday but the people with the classified knowledge work Monday to Friday and needed more information. Apparently its a cello and DDs teacher says it needs regluing isn't enough detail.

Spent yesterday evening clearing my in-box of surveys. Have reached payout with Pigsback only to discover that they've ditched all the Supermarkets and Boots and my choices are now resticted to trrendy high street clothes shops or HMV. Need another six months worth of points to qualify for an Amazon voucher but they've stopped doing the paid clicks so that could take me quite some time.

Did an hour long 300 point survey for another company which equates to 50p. Why is it these things are so poorly paid apart from the obvious fact that those of us who do them will do anything and everything for a little extra worry free cash.
