I'm in a snow free zone. Admittedly one thats still icy but only minimally so.
Had a storming day yesterday. Left school early only to return there 20 minutes later with OH and DD1s lunchbox. Ventured to Lidls where I blew £52.30 on groceries which included at least a months worth of dog food. The only non-essentials being 100 envelopes at 1.29p each - extravagent I know- and a 6 pack of crisps for the DDs lunchboxes as I still haven't got round to baking cakes.
Spent a happy hour cleaning the bathroom. Have filled a bin bag with greying towels ready for recycling. Can now get 60% of the towels in the drawers, stuffed the rest in my wardrobe out of the way for the mo. Need to scrub the tiles in the shower today and then the bathroom will be gleaming.

Its snowing again. Oh joy. The house is like a fridge, will be stuck at school until late so have given in and lit the stove so at least the house will be warm when OH and the DDs get home. Have written another dull DooYoo about an equally dull book. Done all the ironing and left a mountain on the table for the DDs to transport upstairs. They amazed me yesterday by tidying their rooms properly. DD1 even rearranged her sock drawer so that they are all in uniform lines. Now wondering what shes after. DD2 has a fairy tale day next friday and wants to go as an ugly sisterSaving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

On the Apostrophe,
In another life I was an English teacher before I became a Professor of Something Else, and the only rule that I could ever devise that was (a) memorable and (b) reasonably useful was "When in doubt, leave it out." This is probably quite close to your instinctive position.
Don't change a hair, Moo. Your typos are one of the pleasures of the net (or 'net).O G  Somewhere on the South Downs

Professor of Something Else sounds v. exciting.
OHs dream job was advertised a while back with the Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law School of Sociology and Social Policy at Leeds Uni who fork out £ 36K a year to a research officer focusing on "The rise and regulation of lap dancing and the place of sexual labour and consumption in the night time economy". Sadly a willingness to learn was not part of the job criteria.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
After yesterday things can't possibly get any worse. Two v. overpaid plumbers spent the day surveying the building. They removed two toilets and three radiators, which incidently they'd done by 9:30am when I left the first time around. After that they wandered up and down twiddling things for quite some time. At 4pm they decided to enlighten me and did so for an impressive 30 minutes telling me what a huge job it was (no surprise there) and how they'd recommend ripping the whole antequated heating system out (the expensive part of it is 4 years old) yahdee yahdee yah. Ideally they'd like 6 weeks over the summer holidays to do the work that needs doing bla bla bla... big job.. blah.. blah .. bla... should be able to squeeze it into Feb half term.. bla..bla...bla... will only need access for 2-3 day. What the chuff? Better still they themn gave me a guided tour of the worst case scenario pointing out all the places that will be without heating when it all goes wrong. And apparently it will all go wrong. Having endured all this I then asked the obvious question.... What about the dining room. The response was two blank stares. What dining room? Wondered to myself what the heck they'd done all day and where they thought everyone had disappeared to at noon.
Then discovered that the mornings puker (one of many - oh how I love winter vomiting virus) had been admitted to hospital with something potentially contagious. Spent a happy few hours disinfecting its classroom. Now need to find out if the suspected thing has been confirmed and if so need to venture forth to the quacks for a course of preventory antibiotics as I haven't been vaccinated against this one and as the person on the front line I'm in the fortunate position of being most at risk and the person most likely to spread it too if I'm carrying it.
Still it did make OHs day when I walked through the door and turfed everything I was wearing straight into the washing machine before leaping in the shower. Pizza in my PJs was a fab treat.
Poor DDs are now undergoing full body inspections at least twice a day just in case. Not that I'm paranoid or anything.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
OH starts his 4 days off today. In theory hes spending it tidying the shed before repairing a neighbours vac which has been occupying floor space for quite some time. Apparently this is entirely dependant upon finding a tiny heater which I don't recall seeing for 3 or so years. It could be quite literally anywhere. I know all the places its not but the remaining places include two lofts and a v.v. messy shed which makes the tardis under the stairs look like an amateurs attempt at Ninja level tetris. I forsee the households productivity levels plummeting today.
In theory I would really like (well not really but needs must and all that) to :- locate and post a 50th Birthday card to arrive in time for a party on Saturday that we've decided not to go to on account of it involving 12 hours driving and an overnight stay in a Travel Lodge. Its money we don't need to spend. Its an 8pm start so after DD2s bedtime anyway. She'd be obnoxious the following day
- scrub the shower (avoided this by ironing yesterday instead)
- write one more DooYoo which should take me to payout or v.v. close to it.
- Start hunting out an alternative insurance policy for OHs toy car as this years company have misunderstood something he asked over the phone and doubled it. Still at least I'll get cashbackfrom Quidco for visiting the comparison sites.

Saving the best news for last school want to hatch some chicks but the company they've appreoached want £300 to provide eggs 2 days off hathing and dispose of chicks at 48 hours old. Boss has agreed to purchase the auto-turn motor for mine (which I couldn't justify buying myself) and cover all the costs if they borrow mine. Will also get paid to look after them whilst in school and take them home for weekend visits. Best of all I get to keep the chicks. Am most impressed. Now have to decide what breed to go for as I can't hatch from mine, they're nearly all related. Am possibly more exicted than the children will be.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
