The good news is there aren't any more DDs or SOs to exit my account until the 1st of Februaury. The bad news is payday isn't until the 15th by which times lots and lots of DDs will have been paid and my account balance is pathetic. Roll on Child Benefit day.

Rather glad the builders issued us with hard hats they've come in handy today. Got to work super mega early and managed to get everything that wasn't oo big or too heavy for one person out of the rooms in question. builders arrived and started pottering about outside. At 9:30 big boss man went to find out when they were intending coming indoors as he had phone calls to make to be told by a rather bemused brickie that they didn't have a clue what he was on about, apparently it'll be weeks before they're ready to come indoors. Boss is fuming.

The first load of kids bedding is now in the tumble drier. Off to clear out another kitchen cupboard and do yesterdays washing up before starting on the DDs bedrooms which hopefully won't take too long as I blitzed them both on Friday to make way for the pull out bed in DD1s room and to make sure granny didn't break her neck whilst occupying DD2s room. Still rather more tempted to declutter a book shelf by reading each and every novel on it.

    • Chickens are de-shoited
    • Paths to and from chicken land also deshoited - emegency cleaning procedures initiated after I skidded in a large dollop of chicken shoite and ended up wearing the contents of the bucket I was using to de-shoite the chickens
    • Todays stunning clothing ensemble now on a long hot wash in the hopes of removing Eau de chicken shoite from my jeans.
    • Washing up done
Next on the agenda is a rather large heap of clean laundry which needs folding and putting away. Not that much will get done once OH arrives home. I'll have to be v.v. quite whilst he has his siesta. Suppose I'll be forced to bury my nose in a book then so as not to disturb him.

The postie has been bringing with him a reminder that the broadband company has been taken over and my new increased payments are about to start. Apparently I have the homor of a package which enables me to have 8Mb despite my phone line only being capable of 1Mb (on a very very good day in the wee small hours). They offer lots of other packages to new customers which technically I am but because I'm not in a TalkTalk area these are coming in at silly amounts. The £6.99 special suddenly became £33 because of my postcode. Have e-mailed customer servies to see if they can offer me anything better before I find an alternative supplier.

Need to phone the garage to book OHs friends toy in for an MOT and am due at a friends in 20 minutes to inspect her new kitchen and deliver 4 boxes of eggs. Spring is finally here! The chickens have come out of hibernation and the boys are humping anything in sight. One of the younger ones was daft enough to attempt to hump the cat. Don't think he'll be trying again in a hurry.

Are you in a catchment area for Virgin Media? Their customer service is pretty good (Been with them for about 7 years) and their internet/telly packages are fab. I've heard nothing good about TalkTalk...

Not in a catchment area for anything or anyone. Even BT hate us with a passion. Whenever it rains we lose all phone service as the underground conection box floods. The connecty thingies are so corroded that on Saturday mornings we can't use the phone, its much like a 1970s party line, you can here the neighbours conversations. Broadband is 1 Mb at best (unless its rained and then its non-existant and we don't get mobile phone service. My parents have BT on speed dial as I phone them from work to report we have no phone line again and they spend ages explaining to BT (free from their BT line) that I'm incommunicado again. BT have lots of exciting fault finding techniques which have involved melting my broadband plug-in, spectacularly blowing up my fax machine and various other exciting things. Oh the joys of living in the countryside.

Another day another pile of random demands fromschool. You may recall some time back I forked out £30 as the first installment of a £105 3 day residential trip for DD1 in April. Still have £75 to pay so imagine my delight in discovering she gets to go on a 5 day on in September for which they'd like the first £40 of the £199 plus transport costs by Friday and the remainder by the end of the school year. Lovely. DD1 is v. v. excited. No doubt my bank manager will be marginally less so. Can see me being firmly in overdraft territory by payday. Oh joy.

OH has wangled an extra days holiday this week so is off until Saturday. Will see if I can persuade him to do something vaguely more constructive the playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on the die randomly for breathing hard level.

Onward and in theory upwards although its feeling more like a rollercoaster with some tiny steps up and some huge slopes down.

Woke up to an e-mail saying I've been accepted for Shop & Scan. Fairly sure its one of those descisions which will make me want to slit my wrists, a definate what the heck was I thinking moment but if the blurb is to be believed its worth £5 a week or £260 for the year which is most definately not to be sniffed at.
