Now a Virgin customer and very happy with the service.

Signed up on a Wednesday afternoon, voicemail switched on and my current old number ported across the following Friday.

My only problem was my speed dial for answerphone/voicemail was the orginal Virgin mobile number and not my ported number.

A quick phone call Monday night and by Tuesday afternoon a nice guy rang me and we changed the number.
    Happy bunny now. :j

Thank you Virgin for a swift smooth service. :T

Glad to hear it! I'm a happy customer too!

Did you work out how to turn the voicemail on and off?

    Hi guys!

You cannot switch virgin voicemail on and off like you can with Vodafone and O2. I have heard the one about cancelling your active "Divert to voicemail" options, but I have never got that to work either. I think the only way to switch it off is to call customer services and ask them to remove it from your line.

If you are planning on going abroad, I think you have to have been a customer for a certain period of time before they will apply international roaming to your account.

Virgin's voicemail numbers vary according to how you pay.

Non direct debit - voicemail number resembles the virgin mobile number with a few extra digits at the start.

Direct debit payment - voicemail number resembles a standard mobile number with no similarity to your vm number.

If you had set up your direct debit before setting up voicemail the voicemail number wouldn't have changed when you ported in. It sounds as if you set up voicemail, then set up direct debit, then ported in. Once you change to DD payment you again have to call 222 to activate your new voicemail number.

    Thanks Dave_dph.

You are correct in regards to voicemail, I cannot divert using the phones menu's and the only way to turn it off is by calling Virgin.

A problem with the speed dial for my answer phone having the wrong number had to be manually typed in by me after being called by a Virgin phone technician. They did not know why this did not carry over as all the preparations were carried out O.K.
This has now been sorted and free's up another speed dial number.

    Thanks for your help.
