Well, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get my laptop fixed- I NEED my spreadsheets. I don't even know if I can afford to get it fixed with out my spreadsheets! And when it is fixed I am going to give my darling OH an invoice for half the bill. He can either pay up or knock 50 quids off what I owe him. Either way, I'm not totally out of pocket.0

I took my laptop the shop and it turned out it was only the charger after all :j
It seems that when it broke in october last year the replacement one I got off of Ebay was a fake- but a good fake. So it only cost me £38in the end :j and I told BF he owed me £19 and everything is ok
**Update** BF is being a pain about paying the £19. I asked him to transfer it but he won't. I was looking at out joint account online and it is connected to his current account and can see he has paid over £200 to someone for some F-ing CHAIN MAIL. Yes you read that right. Chain Mail. Git. And I said I could transfer it to myself while I was online ad he said No, 'cos that would p**s him off. And I'm not pi***d off?? I am NOW. Grrrr0 -
sorry to hear about OH being a pain in the backside. that's a lot of money to be paining for chain mail, are we talking about knights stuff etc or mail (as in letters). I initially thought the later but have suddenly thought it may be the former.0

Chain mail? More explanation needed methinks? Is this some kind of fetish you both enjoy or is he one of those dress-like-a-bloke-from-the-middle-ages types? Enquiring minds want to know0

Sadly, my OH is a collector of an assortment of medieval weaponry and accessories such as shields and chain mail. Yes, the type you wear Lemon TreeWhat a geek.
And as you can imagine, this is not a terribly cheap hobby. But it's his money and he can do what he likes, as he is not getting into debt over it and saves up for expensive stuff (like custom designed swords- 1000 pounds plus!!! ) but when he is quibbling over 19 pounds it makes me soooo mad.
And I will say this is not a fascination I share in any way. Once you have been regaled by a tedious history of how each particular weapon evolved well, it's hard to stay awake let alone care! Luckily, he is not into running around in fields dressed up. So that's something. And he does spend an inordinate amount of time hanging around at the Royal Armories- but at least that's free entry too!
So, to conclude, my OH is a geek. but what can you do:rotfl:

ok, I take it all back. He actually transferred the money on Friday night and was just saying he hadn't. He's soooo funny. :rolleyes:0

Well impressed with myself- we set a budget of £5 for valentine's presents (we are going out for food and cinema tomorrow so didn't want to go nuts!) and have managed to get him a dvd, a pair of Homer Simpson socks and a sharpening stone (for his aforementioned stupid hobby) all for £5 :j whoo hoo, go me!0

well done for getting such bargains, can't imagine how you could get all that for £50
