Well, today a guy is calling us about renewing our mortgage (apparently they no longer have any mortgage advisers in our area. Cutbacks, methinks.)

Anyhoo, I must confess to being a little bit nervous. I KNOW that the general gist is gonna be 'it's not looking good. Best to stick with your SVR' but I don't really want to have it confirmed!

I don't really want the uncertainty of a variable rate either... it will make it so much harder to budget!

Last night I was dreaming (sad, i know) that I was searching online for a fixed rate and all I could find for our LTV was 80% interest!!!:rotfl: I don't think things are that bad yet....

So, here I am on my lunch break eating a cup o'soup and feeling just a little strung out. I've also got to clean the house top to bottom tonight and tomorrow as I am having a surprise birthday party for my grandma at my house on Saturday. It was a surprise to me too.. I didn't know until last week when my mum 'asked' me if it was ok (read that as: told me!) So feeling a bit aaaarghhh about that too.

On the upside, it's pay day tomorrow :j
And I got a whole £8 bonus. Yes folks, £8. And that's before tax too..:rotfl:
So obviously I'll be living it up in the Bahamas next weekend... I wish!:D

Hey Laura! Yay for Payday and yay to your bonus! Every little helps, as the Supermarket says. Just wanted to say that I agree with you on the other boards - I've not updated my sig for a while, and asked a question the other day on the House Buying board and kind of felt a bit picked on and accused. People often seem to forget that the motto of MSE is that no question is a silly question!

As for your mortgage, try Britannia. They're doing 90% LTV at 4.79 variable and 5.69 fixed (we're just finishing off our application now) x

Thanks for the tip! Fingers crossed we've even got 90% LTV now prices dropped!

ps. (whispers) It's much safer in here, the other folks are mean. I don't fink i'll be venturing out again..except maybe to OS board. It is also warm and cosy in there. :D

Well, it went as expected. They guy basically said 'Stay put' and didn't waste anytime about it. Took about 15mins in all. We are gonna have a chat with someone else, probably an independent person, just to make sure that the advise isn't biased but I really think that is the lay of the land.

Will also have a chat with our building society, see if we can't switch to a repayment mortgage at the very least, and then use our savings to make overpayments so we really start getting those numbers down! Put us in a better place for a decent fixed rate when the mortgage market picks up a bit (whenever that may be!!)

:j Have just checked online banking and have finished only -£134:j

That is the least I have been overdrawn in about 3 years! If not longer! And I saved £150 this month. And it was a looooonnnng month! And it was my mum, dad and grandmas birthdays this month! Whooo hooo!

If I keep this up, I might not be overdrawn at all next month!:j

New months resolution: (I missed January!)
    1. Check online banking everday
    2. Post on 'What DFW things have you done today thread ' daily
    3. No alcohol in the evenings except on evenings where I am not working the next day. eg Not working Sunday- allowed to drink Saturday (this my simple idea on how to cut down alcohol- been getting into some bad habits! This way should cut down to 2 evenings per week..
    4. Continue with 'Simple Plan':
      Overpay one debt per month
Always look for a cheaper option
Think 'do I NEED this, or want this, before buying anything!'
Keep track of incomings and outgoings

The party for my grandma went well... even came out it 'profit' from the event:
    1. 4 bottles of wine (2 red, one rose, one white)
    2. 4 cans of Stella
    3. 2 bottles of Leffe Blond
    4. 3 bottles of cider (BF can have these, yuk!)
    5. 1/2 bottle of champagne
    6. 3 bottles of soft drink
    7. fridge full of party food provided by my mum :D
So, it looks like I'm going to be drunk most of February! Boring day at work today...still, it's keeping me out of mischief!
