Seabrook Crisps

I'm sure they still do straight cut c&o, although they do more flavours in crinkle than straight cut. I much prefer crinkle cut....."much" more "flavour", as a certain crisp manufacturer would say.

I think I've seen Straight Cut Cheese & Onion in Morrisons. If you can't find them try giving Seabrook CS a call on 0800 59 11 14.

Thank you for your letter dated February 7. Please accept my apologies for the belated reply.

I am most grateful for the generous gift of forty-eight packets of Seabrook Crisps and would like to congratulate you on your excellent customer service.

This aside, there are a still a couple of concerns I have about the new “enhanced” packaging. Please kindly allow me to put these to you personally, as you are the person good enough to reply to my first letter.

1) Seabrook has always prided itself on the fact that you can “See what you Buy”. I have often used the window on the packet to ensure that the crisps I receive are on the whole unbroken. What safeguards are in place to ensure that I do not receive a bag full of crumbs?

2) Being a proud Bradfordian, one of the reasons I am heavily biased towards Seabrook Crisps is because of their Bradford base. I have noticed that on the new packets that the word “Bradford” has been omitted from your company address, and now reads “Seabrook Crisps Ltd., BD8 9AJ, UK”, cf. “Seabrook Potato Crisps Ltd – Allerton – Bradford – BD15 7QU” previously. I realise that the crisps are still made in Bradford, but was wondering whether there was a legitimate reason for omitting the city name from the packet or whether this is just outright snobbery?

3) I am concerned that the company has changed its name from “Seabrook Potato Crisps Ltd” to “Seabrook Crisps Ltd”. Does this mean that the company has plans to diversify into the non-potato (i.e. maize or corn snacks) market?

4) Many crisp companies have changed their packaging from plastic to foil recently, and this places you at the end of a long line. Do you have concerns that this will make Seabrook “just another crisp” as opposed to the iconic differentiated crisp it was before the packaging change?

When I lived in Surrey (far too posh they were ) I used to take a box of Seabrook Spring Onion as they were to die for! I lived in these from 1983-1986 when I started to cook but would still have a seabrook crisp sarnie now and again
