Thanks Becky the resting has helped; I think I'm over the worst of it now as I'm feeling much better today.

Hmm, now will I be up to a short run tomorrow?????? ;)

    Guys

I am thinking of doing a 10k on the 5th July do you think its a good idea or should I wait?

EC - I wouldn't bother about races yet.

You will continue to improve for some time yet just based on achieving consistency of training. Just concentrate on that and let your body develop at its own pace.

Races are either used as races in their own right (obviously:p) or as speed training sessions. Neither will be of any benefit to you at this stage - your body has enough on its plate getting used to the mileage and consistent workload to be trying to take on speed as well.

    All in good time.:D

Well, Simply, its not too bad when you can run 12 miles when you're ill!

You'd have settled for that a few weeks back.:D

Ha, ha, I'm more than happy with it now although it was hard work at the time!!!! It's a shame about Sunday's run; I was at Centre Parcs at Longleat and it was a lovely venue for running. Nice and hilly too :rotfl:

Hehe Doctors have some funny ideas!

Don't they know that resting is easing off by 30secs/mile on your 20 mile runs?:p:p

Oooh, he'd have loved you :rotfl: I'll put him straight if I ever need to go back.

Seriously though, my chest does feel a lot easier today and I'm not as breathless. Would it be madness to venture out tomorrow for a gentle 4 miler? Not that I'm impatient or anything :D

    Weds27/5 13.5 Miles 1:45:24 (7:48/mile) (Pulse 98)

A bit warm again tonight but pleasant enough running conditions. Pleased with how the last 2 days have felt with a 42:49 10K followed by a 1:42:17 1/2 marathon both on low pulses - a sure sign that the intervals are paying dividends!:D

Simply, I'd give it another day or two to let the white blood cells realy get on top of the infection. If you give them other tasks to do in repairing muscles etc it may just give the virus the opportunity to fight back and get a stronger hold.

Great running again Rich; your times are amazing :D

I know you're right about waiting another couple of days; I'll rest again tomorrow and see how I feel on Friday.

Becky - how are you feeling now? Are your energy levels returning???

Glad to hear it, Simply, a couple of days is nothing in the grand scheme of things!:D

I don't think Becky will have an internet connection this evening, but she's fine with a healthy appetite returning - just got to let the vitamin levels return to normal over the next 2-3 weeks and she'll be on top form again.:D

Hi guys....was supposed to be running the first 5k of a summer series today, but still not too bright....

Still got ulcers, and a sore throat, so have admitted to OH that a call to the Docs is in order......the sore throat has been there since FLM day - I put it down to being knackered on the day, but it has gone on too long now, and my voice keeps going too. I think it is a classic sign of stress really.

Not much fun. Will report back in once I get my trainers on again.
