I agree that running in London is great, although I couldn't do it all the time because I need some hills in the mix somewhere.:D

The parks all have their own characteristics - I like Battersea because all the various types of park users seem to co-exist perfectly comfortably even when its really busy whereas in Hyde Park its best to avoid times when its crowded with 'head in the clouds' tourists.:p

EC - as already advised make a note of your times but then forget about them. You dont want to get into a routine of trying to beat your previous time each time you go out - thats a sure way of eventually disappearing up your own exhaust pipe. Far better to run to an effort level that you are comfortable with and take the time with a pinch of salt.

The 5k at Richmond is all downhill to 2.5k and then all uphill for the second half whereas Wimbledon is a flat course.

What a privilige it was yesterday to witness at close quarters the fastest ever 10k by a british runner - stunning performance.:D

wimbledon it is then. i dont mind being one of the slower ones....gives me somewhere to aim for, i might just check to see how slow the slowest ones are. i would love to break 25mins as a starting target current p.b. is 25.30ish on my own.

off now for 10k around battersea/southbank

    good runnings to all....

Well you'll be in about my time frame so you'll be about half way into the field :D, the slowest are about 30-35 minutes (but it does vary quite a bit every week), but there's a huge group around my times so its usually fun :D, oh and dont worry about standing at front - I usually stand two back form the front because its not chip timed so you want to be as near as possible (just let everyone run past you ;))

If you like it and want to do it again - I should be back around in London on 27th June (got two working weekends, a wedding and a half marathon before then!!!), I'll try to drag Beer tins along too and we can race each other :D

I'll guarantee that you'll want to do it again once you've done it once. Some of the parkruns are getting close to the limit of how many runners they can handle now. About 200 would be the limit for Leeds and Wimbledon and there was 162 of us at Wimbledon on Saturday (sorry, 164 if you count Becky and Bob The Dog;)).

It will be interesting to see how they respond to bigger numbers as the demand is sure to continue rising.

Yeah thats 162 finishers and I caught those two boys taking shortcuts as well (naughty ;)), and some of the smaller kids only run one lap as well :D

I'm hoping for a battersea or Hdye park one :D

Oh by the way mascott if you live by Battersea - you can get the 170 bus to wimbledon - very handy as it stops at Tibbets corner :D

i actually live next to oval tube but head on down to battersea as its so much nicer than kenninton park!
but i will be looking to go next week (working this weekend)

    rich,
i was amazed by the numbers....and i am going to be adding to them!
a battersea one would be great. i am too lazy/disorganised to start it up but if you and becky organise it I will be there for the first race (if there is only three of us i fear i may be bringing up the rear!!)
