Hey Hypno..I keep saying there is still time...!

Only thing is that there will come a time in a couple of weeks where there isn't enough time. I should be thanking my lucky stars, my brothers FIL is also doing FLM and he has got shin splints and been out of action for 5 weeks...he's going up the wall!

That's what I was thinking (not much time left) - which is why I pushed on and did 10 miles on Wednesday, despite having blisters.......the result was that I ended up with even bigger blisters and the need to have several days off. Had I either done a smaller run on Wednesday, or waited another day or so, I might not be laid up now.

Now I am thinking that there are 14 weeks to go.........and I will do enough during that time to get myself round, fit and well, and if that is not as fast as I would originally have liked, then so be it......but I WILL get round (blisters or not!).

    Hello All,

Welcome newbies :D we'll give you guys some advice on training later when we're both recovered :D

    Sooooo race results...

I managed a 1:24:35 (according to the time when I crossed the line) so while I'm chuffed to do my first race - I know I can do better - especially since I was talking to another runner for some of last two miles (ooopppps) - I did sprint the last 100 metres though - so have put down a marker for the next race - Brighton Half on 22nd Feb :D

Rich did very well...he'll post shortly :D
  • Hi everybody, can I come out of lurkdome and join you please?

I followed this thread last year and you inspired me to push myself both mentally and physically. At one point I was managing to run 7 miles in a session, however, since September life has been getting in the way of exercise and I am going to need to start from scratch again.

My short term goal is to run, on the treadmill, a minimum of 3 times a week. My longer term goal is to enter either a 5k or 10k race - OUTSIDE - this year!!! There I've said it now so there's no going back.

I intended to do a 30 minute run/walk session on the treadmill later today so will report back with progress. Wish me luck!

    Welcome to all newbies!

Well done becky! It sounds like you had plenty left in the tank too :T

Ukevas - I'm not so worried about the last 0.2 miles..........I will crawl those if I need to

    Good day everyone!:D

Its nice to see lots of new posters to go with the shiny new thread, welcome one and all!

And some great runs too, it looks like momentum is building towards marathon season quite nicely.:D

In terms of the St Albans 10, congratulations to Becky on her first race - a bit like a duck and water to be fair - great time and she wasn't even trying!:rolleyes: (More interested in recruiting new members to the board mid race - there's a time and a place for everything, Becky!:p)

It was a really good race in terms of conditions and the course - I managed to dip under 1:10, I think! I timed it at 1:09:59 as did the race clock, but I bet its corrected to a round 1:10:00!:p Anyway, pleased enough with running 10 miles at 3 hour marathon pace at this stage!:D:D
