Morning All; just popped in to report on last nights run - a nice easy 4 miles in the sunshine 41:22 (10:16/mile). My legs were still a little heavy but a great improvement on Tuesday -will be off for my hilly run later.

Glad to see that the legs are recovering Sally and Hypno; isn't it surprising how quickly you can spring back from running such a distance?

Happy Birthday Becky - I hope you are going to celebrate with lots of bubbly!!! _party_ _party_ _party__party_

Glad you enjoyed your run, Simply and hope the hilly one goes well.:D

As for recovering from a 26 miler, it actually takes abround 4 weeks to fully recover but 90-95% of the recovery happens very quickly, certainly enough to anabling running again after 2-3 days.

Hehe You can bank on the bubbly flowing, although hopefully not for a while (being 2:45am)!!:p

    Thanks, Idio!!!:D:D

The reason for getting the mileage up to the 100mpw mark in the Blackpool build up was to launch into this next build up with a much quicker 'steady speed'.

I knew it was a trade off because it inevitably led to running the Blackpool marathon tired, but in terms of the long game it seems to have turned out well and now gives the platform to have a realistic attempt at 2:45.:D:D

 dont you hate show offs your training run at 7:48/mile better then my 1/2 marathon race pace which came out at 7:57/mile :p.

Hopefully when i get my legs back im aiming to increase my day to day run to 10m x 3 and my long run at the weekend up to 15m and also a speed work day too ( aint done one for about 4 weeks lol ) then hopefully see how that works for a few weeks :).

Seem to have am "ok" 1/2 marathon pace and if i could get that pace over a full distance it would be great so that would be my dream aim for Athens would be to hit the sub 3h 30m. but given the course and maybe the heat i would be very very happy with sub 4h.. we shall see :).

Or maybe even just on all fours at 5hr 59m 59s just infront of the pick up bus would be ok to :)..

oh ....and happy birthday becky :D.... you dont look a day past 40 in them pics... :P

Yeah, and that was a first effort!:D

If you can do that on your first attempt just imagine where your time can ultimately end up!

Thanks rich i hope for a sub 1h 30m for my Bristol half...

Im just argueing in my best greek to the people at Athens marathon HQ about that those that lives in Greece get 3 marathon price options depending on what "extras" you want 25 Euro 40 Euro or 80 Euro.. but anyone comeing from outside of greece only gets the option of the highest price 80 Euro.

So for the day i might become a Stavros or a Vassily for the sake of 55 Euro price diffrence :P
