I bet its to check on whos been walking and not running !!!!!

Brrr cold showers are not fun, even when iv trained hard i want a nice warm shower. Ill only have a cold shower as a last resort.

    That would be funny!

Similar to disqualifying race walkers for running, disqualification if you walk in a marathon!:rotfl:

I've always thought that the being a judge and disqualifying the walkers must constitute a big risk to personal safety!

I have deliberately avoided the forum this week because I didn't want to see you all excitedly discussing marathon tapers and route preparation. However, today in a moment of weakness I succumbed. I am SO jealous of all of you who are doing London on Sunday. As some of you may know, my OH had a place this year, but had to defer due to injury. We should have been coming down this weekend to run/spectate. Oh well, we have our own long run to do.

Seriously, though, I hope you all have a great time this weekend. Run your own run, don't get swept along with something that isn't what you planned to do and I hope you all a) get round in one piece and b) achieve your goal, whatever that is.

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!

44271 reporting back from Excel. Had a great massage as well, left calf muscle very tight at mo, scared now
  • Oooh, how exciting is it getting on here???? Becky it must be great watching the preparations in the city knowing that you will soon be part of the action?

I'm loving Rich's countdowns - right down to the seconds :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm having a strange 'off plan' week. Monday should have been a rest day but after being deskbound all day I could feel Sunday's run in my legs. I really needed to give them a stretch so went for a very gentle 4 miles 00:43:49 (10:47/mile). My legs felt a bit heavy but no niggles to speak of.

Yesterday was fartlek - 4 miles 00:37:52 (09:25/mile) - I was pleased to find that the spring was back in my step and my legs were much less tired.

Today has been a rest day due to family commitments so I'll be back on plan tomorrow for my hilly run.

Hope you are all enjoying tapering, carb loading and running. :D

Simply - Everything seems to be going just fine, niggles and a bit of stiffness are par for the course. The fartleks certainly seem to be developing some muscle mass. Btw The countdowns are just blagged from the official site, which all FLMers are familiar with already:
    http://www.london-marathon.co.uk/site/

UK - Carbo loading as well! Dont have too much, carbs absorb water and put weight on, not really what you want for a half! Anyway, I'm confident of a 1-45 being reported come Sunday afternoon!:D

It seems Becky made light work of the Excel 'lets try and empty your wallet' Expo - in and out in 3 minutes without spending a penny. Thats the way to do it!!!:p
