Even though the banks dont credit check a basic account they will access your credit files for an ID check...i've known people be refused an account because of not being on the electoral role

  • I am having trouble with my credit file, I applied for a lloyds bank account and was turned down, next thing there was a cifas marking on my credit file. I was not on the electoral role at my previous address as it was with my parents - they have however linked me to a previous address that I left owing unpaid debts - the bank account I have is a joint one with my mum who has always had a good credit score - will this cifas affect her too??
  • (did i mention im discharged?)

This really made me smile Maxmycardagain....Good for you for being discharged! :) I'm right at the beginning of this whole process and I'm dreaming of the day it's all over!

    Cheers

I opened a Co-op cash minder acct ok after BR.

BUT co op wouldn't give me an ISA (so I could put a little bit by with interest)

Co-op have been no trouble, I didn't want to chance Barclays as they were a creditor and incase they clawed some money back before BR gone through etc.

Well Barclays are not great in the time it has so far taken then just to get round to looking at my application i had my cards and had set up internet banking with Co-op. So i am not impressed.

Also the call center is again not in this country and means that they are next to useless at answering questions i have called 3 times now about my application and have had 3 different answers and non of them useful

I called there customer services again abroad and asked to be put through the my local branch to see what they say. They said that the phone may ring but then leave a message on the answering machine. Guess what no answering machine.

So to sum up the moral of the story is Co-op are ace in all ways and Barclays have a lot to learn.......................Rubbish.

The application form for the Barclays Cash Card account says that if you are not on the Electoral Roll, they'll send a letter to the address to confirm you live there.
  • how do i get a paperbased application from for barclays? the number i called was 0500007234, i could never get through to anyone to get a form sent to me. Very annoying and costly.

They did not have any paperbased forms at my branch, she attempted the application on their computer system.

I would rather fill in a paperbased form and send to the proper dept than using the half wit at my branch who said my cash card account had declined. I do not have 3 months to wait without a bank account.

Fingers crossed on the co op front sent my certifited ID documents yesterday.
  • Barclays rubbish and useless
Discharged nearly 15yrs and happen again😓

Ask your branch to order one (either from their head office or from another branch. You'll need to go back into the branch to have your ID verified anyway. Also, get your bankruptcy form copied and verified too as I was told by the call centre that would be required.

I've had problems getting through to the Barclays call centre too. There is an option on their website to call you back if you would rather the form was sent to you.
