I work for barclays:o as a seller:o

To qualify for a cash card account when bankrupt the only thing taken into consideration really when the credit check is done is the size of the debt previously owed and if there has been any suspected fraud.
For those of you who were sent away with forms - if your still in employment it should have been processed in branch and you should have left with account details, only people receiving benefits have to send away and then if the branch is half decent the seller will probaly still process it in branch - it's getting past the counter, they're mystery shopped on the correct procedures for basic bank accounts and the 'correct procedure' is to send it away.

Hi gtx,
I applied for a Barclays basic account at my local branch last saturday. I explained that Barclaycard were a creditor and that I was BR. No probs, everything went through and I left with account details. Early days, but still waiting for the gubbins to come through.
I was reading some time ago on here, that even though you might have been accepted in store, that head office may subsequently reject the "application". As you work for Barclays, is there any truth in this?

ive had a cash card account from BR-day, i saw online that the card cash now has an elctron card and online banking which i requested, the girl said the connect card isnt chip and pin, i then applied online for a proper barclays account with no overdraft, i had two emails back with diferent online banking id numbers and now have had the pin number through the post stating the card will follow.0

Mr E if your application was processed in branch and accepted it will be fine - head office and the branch have no say in whether an account goes through or not it really is a case of 'the computer says no' - if the checks come back fine in branch then head office don't even get involved
maxmycardagain I wasn't specifically aiming my comments at you they were made as a general guide for everyone reading this thread - sorry if you thought they were and if they caused any offence it wasn't intended and the girl who told you the card wasn't chip and pin got it wrong the latest issue connect electronic cards for cash card accounts are chip and pin and you won't be able to tell the difference between them and the 'normal' connect card - can't help you with the id numbers, no idea whats going on there

I too got refused a barclays basic account. I told the lady i had gone BR 2 weeks ago and that barlcays were a creditor of mine, she said no problem. I took all ID in and my BR offical letter. My application declined. I dont understand why if this account is aimed at BR's? She said they carry out no credit check. Told me to come back in 3 months.... why would this make a difference? If no credit check is carried out. I am on the electoral roll and all ID was at my current address.
I am in the long winded process of applying for the co op cash minder, taking some time due to post office not certifying my id correctly and having to send again so hopefully something positive will come of it. My nearest co op branch is 50 miles away!
Does anyone have any info on HSBCs basic account? Whilst searching the net i came across and uptodate leaflet via my local council. In the list of banks account HSBC was listed and did not mention undischarged bankrupts would not be accepted????
Also how about the accounts that charge a set up fee and then a monthly running cost? They sound a little dodgy to me...0 -
Could there be something untoward on your credit files that barclays have piicked up on ? CIFAS markers for example?
Accounts that charge a set up fee have been discussed here before...not worth the time & effort IMHO work out waaaaaaay to expensive charges here there and everywhere for things....
Hmm HSBC usually wont take an undischarged BR
