what is a CIFAS? Keep seeing this. Is this something to do with Fraud?
If so when i accessed my experian credit report in December there was nothing listed in that section of my file.0

Yep! it is a fraud marker. Have you checked the other 2 reference agencies as well?
Is it possible that she tried to open another account and not a Cash Account? Has been known.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

i saw the screen she was using and it said cash card application.
Can you check the other credit agencies for free? I checked experian on their free 30 day trial.
Why would i have fraud on my account? I havent committed fraud? I opened a lloyds basic account in March last year and had no probs, this was due to entering a DMP. No fraud issues then??0

Nobodys saying you have a fraud marker...it was just a thought most of the banks will check your files for an ID check even though they dont credit check a basic account BUT if something on your credit files dont seem right they'll refuse applicaton.....your on the elecroral role ok? if not thats another reason you may be turned down...most of the other credit agencies will charge around £2 for your files to be sent to you....IMHO I think the person you dealt with at barclays didnt sound like she knew what she was doing..have you been back since & spoke to someone else?We all die. i will try again at another branch. The girl did have to call the manager in to assist her and called me with the decision 40 mins later as i had to go. She did seem surprised the application had been declined. The only thing she though was the bankruptcy perhaps was not on my file yet and there was a flag that i owed barclays money. She really wasnt thats sure. Wish i could apply online. I did call the new account number but could never get through, always on hold. That way i would have got a paper application and could have sent it off to the main office.
I am on the electoral role yes.0

 Hey Tigerfeet
If you are not on the electoral register does it mean you will be turned down for a Barclays account once you are made BR?
I avoided putting myself on the electoral register at the end of last year because I think it is how bailiffs have previously tracked me down.
 Thanks......RRD 0 0

Sorry....I panicked there and asked that question before I finished reading the thread.....patience and all that!!
Seems not being on the electoral register could be a reason for being turned down.
