that is so true sarah skint! I don't think there will be a 90% off sale this year. All they have left in the stores I've been into is a nasty looking santa, xmas cards and wrapping paper:rolleyes:

is that the one holding the balls???
coupon over here, coupon over there, every crack filled with coupons even down there
    (meaning under the buggy lol):D

    Popped into Boots Canterbury today.

There is a stand to the right of the main doors with quite a lot of No 7, including lots of suncare, many of them cheap enough to get with a blinkie.

There are still half-price perfume gift sets.

Thre is very little left on the sales shelves, a selection of wrapping paper etc, a few stationery sets, and quite a few of the large St Tropez sets.

I agree with the other posters about the few buyers clearing shelves - saw a few at Lakeside. However, there was no blocking of aisles when I was there, and in fact, I was struck by how couteous and considerate most people were, given that it was heaving, and lots had pushchairs.

    Hi Sandra

It was me that posted this. The Sa's that spoke to me were quite annoyed about it. It sounded like the woman was really bragging to them also which I guess got their backs up.

Terrible thing to see what greed can do to people. I read through that thread and couldn't believe the behaviour some people had witnessed. Someone else said about 2 women with buggies who blocked the aisles with the buggies and 6 baskets to stop people getting to the shelves. One was on the phone and then 2 more of their friends turned up and blocked the other aisle with their buggies and rammed a woman who tried to step over the baskets.

I hope these people who have been greedy find that they can't sell any of it as they have over flooded the market!:T

I completely agree I think that it should be limited to 3/4 max per customer, because even if they have to take there whole street along with them to buy 3/4 each it would be more inconveince to them and they might think twice about doing something of the sort.

Regardless though of any sale and any bargains your going to get people wanting to make a profit out of it, but its when they become greedy and take the whole shelf of stuff, is when it becomes annoying especially if your in arms reach of it.

And people are rude these days like wont let you get past, even if you say excuse me and try to be polite they just ignore you. When I was in the sale on Wed morning it was mayhem and there was some with buggys and no one would even let them through so I just stopped everyone behind me to let them past as I know what its like. But you could here people tutting because other people were rushing to things they wanted.

I think sometimes its just plain rude and it doesnt cost anything to have manners.

I think the best thing you can do is just pick up what you think you might need and then put it back if you dont want it afterwards - thats if you can pick it up in the first place - and you so would'nt brag about making a profit on things even if you were!

I was in Edinburgh Fort this morning and noticed a staff memo up behind the tills saying that staff were to encourage customers to use their blinkies up on the 3-4-2 and clearance No7. There was some sort of reward for the staff member that looged the most blinkies in but even better, when a customer used a blinkie they were allowed a go at the "Lucky Dip" box. This The Lucky Dip box was full of all sorts of old GWP.

Soooooo jealous...I was at B&Q thought about going to Boots and would have if not with OH.......snow fair, they wurnie daein that yesterday!

I PAID 88P FOR THREE BOTTLES OF SUN TAN LOTION!!

    Bargain!!! :D:D:D:D:D

So ...I wanted lunch so I bought it, two Pantene sachets and some reduced chewing gum. Got 200 and a few odd points plus Blinkie. Got three Hair Spritzer, paid 88p plus Blinkie. Got GWP as above from Lucky Dip box. (I got a L'Oreal one in a black and gold box, with three skincare samples, lipgloss, eyeliner and foundation samples.) Still have 200 points to spend. So for an overall outlay of £4.00 I got the lunch I was going to buy anyway, chewing gum, two Pantene sachets, three bottles of hair spritzer and a GWP. Not a bad morning of Bootsing, considering I was only in there for three minutes!
Oooh I have two blinkies to use!! I will be heading there in the morning :T
Finally, I can see you crystal clear
  • I encountered someone (well a mother and daughter team) like this on the first day of the sale and what really bugged me was that there was a sweet old lady who only wanted one item and they were so greedy that they wouldn't even let her have that!

I have no problem with anyone buying one or two for themselves and ebaying one or two to cover the cost of their purchase (especially as money is tight for so many at the moment), but I HATE those greedy mares that grab everything on the shelf with the sole intent of selling on. I think that Boots should limit the items to 4 or 5 per customer, the same should apply to online orders. Tesco's have a bulk buying policy perhaps it's time MR B did?

I used to post deals on here and HDUK regularly, but got sick of posting deals only to find that greedy peeps had put in mass orders and didin't even have the courtesy to say thanks! So I stopped posting. Since finding this thread, my faith in people's kindness and generousity has been restored.
:T:T Well said, i think you've hit the nail on the head, getting one or two things for yourself and selling one or two things on to cover the cost of your purchases is absolutely fine and as you said, especially so in this financial climate, but bulk buying for sole intention of clearing out stock and then charging ridiculous prices is just pure profiteering. Then adding insult to injury by knocking down other customers in their haste, just makes me sick:(. I had two young women block me at the marshall lake store and i have enough trouble with my tots in tow anyhow, what with their sticky fingers! Hiding stash in the pushchair etc :rotfl:
You laugh because I'm different......I laugh cause I just farted!

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt. (A.C)
  • I still have bottles of the stuff from the last time this happened.....
    I loved that glitch!!!

I was tempted to go out to the Fort today rather than Princes St - wish I had now.

Oh well, I got the mineral foundation, blusher and No7 wipes on 3 for 2 (no gwp, but I got one the other day when I bought the other blusher colour so not too bothered). Also got 300 extra points for spending over £35 from the ACM (used it as an excuse to buy the Ghost perfume I've been eyeing up for months), and an Olay gwp that I found lurking on the clearance shelf - the nice SA said I could have it since it was scanning free. Used the blinkie I earned on the silver glitter eyeshadow compact, cost me all of 88p in cash. So all in all, a pretty good haul for me this afternoon.

Didn't go upstairs to check on sale stock (there was nothing really worthwhile when I was in on Thursday though). Clearance shelf had lots of eyeshadow, lipstick, nail varnish - couldn't find any clearance No7 but maybe I didn't look hard enough. Lots of old style Herbal Essences, but none of it seems to be reduced - and no Pantene sachets.

The box was at the No7 counter, and there were signs up on the No7 till and behind the main tills.
