Well not really unless you have an account which uses them you may not be aware of themThese PIN SENTRY things are fairly common now, I'm surprised anyone would be unaware of them.
I only found out barclays had one when I visited some relatives a while ago and they were using it0 -

Eventually it should have hit every customer, but some customers haven't received it if they either access their online banking infrequently or make no transfers. They will usually still be on "traditional" online banking, as will be third parties such as powers of attorney etc.
Young pensioner, if your husband has one, then you can start using his as soon as you start getting prompts online. If you haven't got the prompts yet and need to act quickly, you can call the Online Banking Helpdesk on 0845 600 2323 (or 02476 842 063 if you'd prefer) who should be able to enable it for you. Also be aware that there is a £10,000 transfer limit per day for online banking with PINsentry, so you might want to visit a branch, write a cheque etc. if you want to get a larger sum moved in one go.
I was under the impression that there was a prompt that stated 'If you have not yet received a PINsentry reader...' which actually gave an option to flag this and subsequently order the reader.
My apologies if I have got my wires crossed.Personal Banker at Barclays0
